Hooking up a water tank to a direct drive unit

Hey everyone!

I have a portable 4gpm direct drive unit that I want to mount permanatly to my van with a float tank. Is this possible to do? Will it be able to suck the water out of the tank or will I need to buy a belt driven unit to do this.

Keep the tank close to the pump, use at least 3/4" stiff hose that will not collapse and you will do fine. You want a flooded suction to help the pump out. Ideally the tank being higher than the pump inlet would not be bad either, but not totally neccesary.
Belt drives do better on sucking water, but direct will do fine also in a setting like yours. If you wanted to take the washer out of the van and run hose from the tank, then you would have a problem.
