Hose Repair

I have a 100ft length of pressure hose that burst on me about a year ago and wanted to know if there's a patch kit I can buy or should I just trash the hose? The reel I have doesn't hold two 50 footers very well because of the quick couplers.

Thanks [spin]

My personal experience is that if the failure was at a fitting, it is worth replacing. If failure is in hose itself, probably not worth the expense.

Thanks Bill

It was in the hose but just hated to trash it without finding out for sure if it could be fixed. Guess this time I wont buy the cheap stuff.

Thanks again

Your local pressure washer distributor or hydraulic hose center
can probably cut out the bad section and put new krimped fittings
on the hose. However it will not roll up very smoothly on a reel, but it
can always be on hand for an emergency spare.

We sell replaceable hydraulic fittings upon request, however I prefer
the krimped fittings.

hey mark

in our area no one will put a fitting on a failed hose. I tried.
not any automotive or hydro. place anyway they dont want the liability
seems that if a fitting they put on failed they can get sued.

Also try using 50 foot sections of hose. That way if you have a blowout you wont lose 100 feet of hose at a time, just 50.

yes they stick out when rolled i just live with it itry to get it so its on the end of the reel.
hose reels are nice but my next rig will just have the two L shaped hangers
swivels leak-they rust-they take floor space ill keep one for my 75 ft that i use for trucks but i wont get a bigger one.
i am thinking about making my own from a electric winch
push button and remote control

In the entire city of Pittsburgh here, we've found only two companies that are willing to cut and crimp our busted hoses. I would think you could probably find a company somewhere in your city or nearby, just have to keep looking. The price to fix rather than replace is a no brainer, something like only $4 for the cutting, 2 swivels and crimping. Can't beat that.

Try a NAPA auto parts store. Most of them can repair hoses. Hosecomatic also make a field repair kit. I keep one in my trailer.
