Hour Meter

Just curious to know how many hours everybody has on their hot water machine. How often do you service and replace various parts? At what hour point would you shy away from buying a used unit? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Additional Question

I'm new and computer challenged. When you say "Hot Water Unit" - Do you mean Steam Cleaner?

He means a hot water producing Pressure washing unit. Not all of them produce enough heat to get steam. So they are not all steam cleaners.

Hello Micah,

On our primary unit engine we change the oil filter every 50 hours, oil & filter every 100 hours. This is a 5.7 liter GM engine and has about 6500 hours on it now.

The boiler is Lp and we've had it in service for 6 years. We have not needed to do anything to the burner assembly. We cleaned the coil for the first time last year.

The General pump TSF 2221 we change the crankcase oil once per year and have put seals in it once in the last 3 years.

I purchased all of these units new.

Our other truck has a Kubota 48 hp engine that we just installed earlier this year. We also change oil and oil filter at the 50 and 100 hour intervals. We replaced the coil just last year and put another General TSF 2221 on when we installed the Kubota. Also plan to change crankcase oil on the General annually.

The engine, pump and coil I bought new. The burner assembly I reused from the Hotsy that I bought used 8 years ago. In the 8 years we have rebuilt the burner assembly!

Seems like everytime I buy something used I end up spending a lot of $ making it the way I want it! That includes Old Tractors and Old Trucks! :)
