Does anyone have any input on the drawbacks or benefits to hovering and the lawn mover stlye surface cleaners? I've heard people recommend both, so I'd like to hear some of your input. I'm going to be washing several movie theaters with 15,000+ square feet of concrete and brick in front of the entrances not to mention all of the sidewalks and exits. Thanks guys!

i never used one with wheels
when i got mine i figured the hover was lighter and less parts to go bad.
in your case[did you get that job?] the most important thing is matching the size of the surface cleaner with your GPM and pressure. go too big thinking you'll get done faster and you wont.
your unit might not spin a 3 nozzle fast enuff to do a good job.
i hear that its easier on the arms to control a wheeled one
i got a comet rotoblaster 19" with a greasable/rebuildable swivel for $399

i hear its a nice unit but what did that baby cost you $1200 or more.
any of the surface cleaners it only takes a little creativity to put a 3 way ball valve and a short whip hose on to get the wand to work

We've use several different models, both hover and wheeled, but my personal favorite and the favorite of all our employees is the Landa Water Jet. Yes, it retails for something like $1,600, but you can probably find it for $1,000 to $1,200 from a dealer or even less used. Yeah, you can probably add a ball valve and hook a wand to a cheap unit, but we use our surface cleaners a lot and the Landa holds up better than all of them. Plus, it's the easiest by far on your arms and wrists. It's kind of like the difference between driving a Cadillac and a Geo. Sure the cheap hover model might get the job done, but I'd rather spend more money on something that's going to make the process go faster and be more confortable while I'm working.

I agree with the others who recommend the LANDA WATERJET. I have used it for a number of years now,on several diffrent types of jobs and I have been very happy with the results. Very easy to use and comfortable to work with. joel wilcox

I have two surface cleaners both with wheels that I have no problems with. One is a 24"whirl-a-way. A great machine but it cant be used with hot water or you will melt the plastic cover. I did just that one time and my cover melted a little bit. I had to really jury rig this serface cleaner to get it work right agai. I paid around $550 from Northern tools 7yrs ago and this machine still works(Changed many parts over the years including the wheels to keep this machine afloat.

The machine is a 30"big guy from Delco which I paid around $750+$250 to ship. THis was about 2 yrs ago. I love this machine.

I may buy the whisper wash surface cleaner if my whirl-a-way dies this year so I can use hot water with it.

I also recommend wheels with the surface cleaner only because it would be easier to use and when something is easier to use I always check it out.

LANDA WATER JET

I'VE USED A FEW DIFFERENT ONES. THE LANDA WATER JET IS MY FAVORITE BY FAR. I DON'T OWN ONE YET, BUT THAT WILL BE MY CHOICE. I NOTICED IN ONE OF THE REPLYS BELOW, THAT THE PERSON THAT SAYS THEY OFFER MANY DIFFERENT TYPES HAS ONE CALLED "CYCLONE". THAT LOOKS ALMOST IDENTICLE TO THE LANDA WATER JET EXCEPT IT DOES NOT HAVE ITS OWN WAND ATTACHED & ITS ORANGE INSTEAD OF BLACK. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT ONE IS ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT LIKE THE LANDA EITHER.

WFSTOFF,

Welcome to PowerWashNetwork.com

The Cyclone is made by Ctech the same people that own Landa, Hotsy, Tuff Shartk etc.

The Cyclone is an economy version of the Landa Water Jet.

Personally I am very partial to the Steel Eagle Surface Cleaners.

CYCLONE

MARK, WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE LANDA WATER JET & THE CYCLONE? PSI/GPN REQUIRED, SIZES, FEATURES ETC?
I HAVE USED THE STEEL EAGLE ON A MEDAL ROOF & IT WAS A LITTLE BIG, HEAVY & HARD TO MOVE AROUND.

One thing I like about the Whisper Washer Big Guy is the handle, I have seen others and they are not as comfortable to hold while working.

My set up with ball valves is like this picture also and allows me to switch between wand and surface cleaner.

Hopefully the picture post here.
