Ivy Vines...help!

I am cleaning a large brick house that has old ivy vines all over one side of the house. The ivy leaves themselves were removed, but the roots and dried up vines are still clinging ALL OVER the facade. The only thing that worked today was the turbo nozzle, which did knock them off, but the side of the house (including the chimney) goes about 40 feet in the air!! There is no way I'm getting on a ladder with the turbo nozzle 30-40 feet in the air, but I was wondering if there was a solution that I could spray on the vines, let sit and use the X-Jet to wash them off? Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but anybody have any input on what I should do next?
Thanks,
Chris

Gee! I think a three step process would work!

1) Gasoline.
2) Match.
3) Soot Remover.
