Little money on the side?

Hey guys
I'm doin' lawncare but I could use some spare cash on my off time. I plan on just offering powerwashing driveways/fences/decks/etc. to my customers if they want it. I don't plan on using anything more than my 6 hp home depot honda pressure washer, it's worked fine for me at my house in the past. I know that they are slower than commercial equipment, but I have no money to invest right now. I'm sure my inexperience makes me a little naive on this, but is my idea doable? Also, how long can I keep this residential washer running realisitcally? Any advice/tips would be a big help, thanks a lot!!!!

My gut feeling is to tell you to please not start this. Inexperience, poor equipment and the attitude of just making a little extra money jeopardizes our profession.

If you maintain your machine you should be able to get a couple seasons out of it but a lot of it depends on how well the machine was built to begin with.

If your seriously considering to add power washing to your list I suggest you learn how to do it properly first. Do searches on this board and find out how things should be done and practice on your own property first. Power washing may seem easy but theres a lot more to it if your going to do it correctly.

I wrote an article on power washing a while back called, The Art of Power washing. I'm not sure if I posted it on here or not but you should be able to find it on the internet. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions.

If you are not cutting it in the lawn care business....I suggest you sharpen your blades....For a little extra money what not pick up an extra yard or two....isn't that what you do?
