Location...Location...Location

I've made an interesting observation.

I've noticed that when members of the board list their location they receive more responses to their questions than members who don't. Now I haven't been keeping any data or stats on this, but in general I find this to be true.

I also have read many posts from washers who have met and better yet received help from fellow board members on particular jobs.

I'm curious as to why members hold back their true location? I can understand some reservation of stating your location due to it being broadcast all over the www, but in this forum I think of it a bit differently.

I'm sure some suspect that the reason they leave their location out is to further hide their identity in an effort to gain a leg up on a local board member.

What are your thoughts?

Bridget I think you said it well, many feel others in their general area would steal from them or for whatever reason they don't trust others here.

I have nothing to hide, have met many of my competitors, some legal some not but almost all have busines cards. Easy for me to check out, just go to the City business license section and look the name up. No I don't turn them in, in do time they get caught.

How is it guys and gals, what is it your really trying to hide?

I think the lady is going to hear a lot of different reasons here and I for one will sit back and read but not reply to any of them.

I have no real reason. When I signed unto this board for the first time, I had just happened upon it, and didn't know for sure what it was. I did not want to give out any personnal information (there are a lot of shady charactures and web sights out there). Now that I have joined and seen what the BB is about, I have no clue of how to change my information. I suppose I should look into it.

Paul,

Main page on top, look for "user cp", click it, then go to edit your profile and make the changes there. Easy as 1,2,3.

Any problems just ask and we will help you.

You can also add a signature like many of us have and it will enter everytime you post unless you remove the check mark in "show signature" at the bottom of the post area.

I'm with Bridget and Jon. We have nothing to hide. Our lives are an open book anyway :p I also feel the more information I provide positions me to be more open and honest with everyone else. My desire is to learn as much from Y'ALL ;) as possible.

I found this board by accident. When I signed up I just left out the location, since I was not sure what the site was all about.

But HarQuin is my companys name.

It sure would of been nice to of had a tool like this when I first started the biz.

You are never too old to learn something new.

Well,
I'm coming to Michigan to set up shop. No, changed my mind, I'm heading to just outside Jonesboro AR. I hear there is a whole lot of biz in AR. Man, so much biz customers beg you to come wash. Only one man there to wash and he must need some help. There's no powerwashing done around here, so don't worry about coming to town to help. Maybe get one or two jobs per year, biz is real, real slow in NC. Don't waste your time here when you can go to Michigan. Michigan has lots of powerwashing work to be done.............

PS. Bigboy, leave the light on for me!

Bridget,

I'm sorry...I was referring to New Mexico. Supposedly known as The Land of Enchantment, even though that could be debated. I am originally from Ill. My parents sold the farm and moved to NM due to my fathers health when I was very young.

I am proud to say that with his help, I was able to start the business. In fact he worked for me up till a few years ago and after his 71 B-day. I still have customers to ask about him.

I am very thankful for the life I have, especially on a day like this.

God Bless America

WE AGREE

HI BRIGETT, VERY GOOD QUESTION.
and you are Right, when someone is more honest and open
people seem to want to help out more, and a we agree with that
we have had people on here ask questions on here and tryed to help them, then later on find out they lived right here, heck when we gave -up truck washing due to our Health we were willing to
give away several very good accounts and contacts even to Fed-ex, ground, where i use to work,if this person had only been honest, so be it.

we have always been honest on this board, we dont worry who sees what, low ballers wont last, because they can"t affford to
do qualiity work, week-end worriors are about the same here,
no pun- intended.

when you have the exsperience and know how and your the best you can be and stand behind what you do and have LIC &
INS, our reputation follows us.

its like the members listed you never really know who your talking too so many are listed more than once and under different names, also we live in Memphis,tn not east or west or north -or
south America come on give us a break it might help you.
HONESTY IS WHAT WE LIVE BYE AND HOW OUR BUSINESS IS RUN.

just our thoughts

I simply wanted to get comfortable with this board before giving to much info out. I've had a bad experience with a similar situation. This board is not like most and I appreciate everyone's honesty. Believe me, Chicago is not like where you guy's are posting from. I've only been here for 2 years and am ready to move back home to Southwest Missouri. People would cut there mother's neck up here to get a job and lose no sleep over it.

OLD TOPIC BUT VERY TRUE !!!

HI REX, this is a old Topic but very True!!!
This was not Aimed at you Personally,I was speaking of Generally
of others here, with-out nameing Names, long before you came on the Board, it just like some of the others here have said
if someone really wants or needs help there are people here
who are willing to help, but you we have to know the area where that person lives in order to help, for instances laws concening
waste-water are different everywhere, prices for Truck & trailer
vans Ect. differ from region to region, where to find the cheapest parts- may be in there own back-yard .
some will argue with this. we won"t, we will try to help those we can, we wish you the best of luck.
