Looking for new low press hose reels

Hi Guys
I am looking for a new hose reel . 150ft min for my low press water. I would like to keep it as small as possible because I am installing it inside my enclosed trailer. I am also going to have to make a dual hose reel stand. I have checked a few vendors but am still looking. If you have some ideas let me know. Thanks Tim

Tim - we use a "Hostract" stationary M-series reel with our 100ft 3/4 low pressure hoses. It works great and I don't think they could get much smaller, unless one was to buy electric to eliminate the handle? Not sure if 50ft more would fit, it would be close. Here is the company number if you want to check them out, Tel: 219-489-8828.

PS: I don't work for them.

I have had cox, steel eagle & Hannah. I think I spelled that right, oh well if its not I will get you the numbers tomorrow.

I think the Hannah reel is the best. Of course I’m in a dry climate and the reel you want might need to be plastic or stainless; I think for the money Hannah is the best. I have had no problems with steel eagles. I have the stainless plastic models. The cost on those where a lot higher. I can get the Hannah for about 189.00 to 225.00.

when I get a chance I will post the numbers.

Tim,

You may want to check with Reel Quick about their new line of low pressure hose reels. production will start after the first of the year.

They had a reel at CETA this year and It was almost the same as the attached photo.

Mark,

Tell us why you like cox & reel quick.

What is it about them that make them better?

i would like to know.

i have had less problems with my steel eagles than other brands. I would never buy them again. I think for plastic reels I paid too much.

My hannay reels have problems but for the price i can replace them. I think cox is a good reel but also a little higher in price. The stupid thing is their made right in my backyard. I order reels from hannay half way across the country and they are still cheaper.

I do think cox holds up better in cold whether conditions.

The steel eagle however will not rust since there made of stainless & resins.

I think the swivel type reel quick reels are nice.
At least that type of reel. I have looked at the regular standard reels and thought they looked a little flimsy

Well that’s my opinion what’s yours.

I am with Ron on this one. I like the Hannay reels best. Because of the design every Reel Quick reel that I have had has leaked at one time or another. They are guaranteed for five years though, I just chose not to turn it in for the guarantee because of the hassle of taking it off of the trailer or truck, boxing it up getting a return authorization, shipping it, waiting for them to decide to honor their guarantee, and then waiting for them to ship a new one. I just wound the hose on backwards. It also guarantees that all of the hose gets unwound off of the reel when the guys are on a job. The Hannays are just more solid. I can get one that holds 300 ft of 5/8 hose for about $180.

Hello Guys!

Well I have used Cox reels on most of my trailer mounten washer packages for @ 20 years now.

I find they build a Quality reel for a fair price, I recently discussed some of the recent improvements they have made to the locking mechanism, which was the one weak link.
(I suggest you stick with the "Competitor" series not the challenger)

Reel Quick , I have worked with for @7 years now, we use them mainly on portable and stationary electric units , I prefer Cox for trailer mounted reels, however Reel Quick has recently introduced new & improved contract cleaner reels, and will soon be offering stackable reel brackets. We are an authorized dealer for both lines.

Hope this info helps!

Cody,

That’s great if you’re using it with kid gloves. My crews beat the shit out of everything. I have had to only replace reels due to a car hitting them or wear over several years. I pay 180.00 dollars for the hannay high-pressure reel. I don’t know how long they are going to last.

I do know if I bought my shoes at payless I would need a pair every week. 29.00 a pair. if I bought a pair of new balance or Nikes for 59.00 they last three to six months. You can do the math.

Again if this works for you that’s great, my reputation and professionalism and presentation is that I have the best. My rigs run a lot of hours every week and would not hold up if I had anything but industrial parts. Yes I could buy a lot reels for 30.00, who’s got the time to replace them. If they broke one night and my guys where impaired and production fell. I could stand to loose hundreds to save 130.00. Doesn’t make sense for myself. But again great advice for a new guy not serious about his business.

Mark,

Thanks for the input. I like Cox Reels, I'm just pissed because they are made in Tempe and cost more money. I guess things that cost more sometimes hold up better. I like Cox reels just didn’t like the price.

Have you ever tried hannay

Tim, Check out Delco from Fort Worth Texas. They sell good high quality equipment. Among some of there equipment that I purchased is 2 stackable hose reels which I think hold 200' of hose on each reel. These reels dont take up that much space and aren't to expensive aprox $180 a piece and $50 for the connection to make them stackable. I have these reels in my 7'x12' enclosed trailer and the only problem I have with them is aprox once a year I have to change the o-ring gasket in the hose connection because I use hot water in my pw most of the time.

Don't like the garden hose reels eh.. well, for me they have worked fine. When I had crews working they only broke one (ripped the handle off) across about 4 years. I have plenty of commercial reels for my high pressure and other. I have 4 Hanney electric, 2 Summit & 2 RQ elbow power reels and I still prefer the cheap ass Sun Reel plastic jobber from home depot.

Just my preference and for any one wanting to go cheap they'll work just fine espically if they are doing it them selves. I know some guys like the heavy duty if for nothing else to have that nice commercial look, but no one ever see's my rigs I work at night so it really don't care too much what my stuff looks like, has no effect on my business. They're practical, easy to reel and cost effecient.

BTW nice looking rig!

I like the stainless hose reels but I haven't come across any since I am cheap. I buy my hose reels used from a secret source and restore them for a fraction of the cost. I end up with a $400 hose for $50 - $100 bucks. So I tend to take what I can get.

My whole mission in this business has become a matter of how cheap can I do it. This emcompasses equipment, chemicals , and sheer cleaning speed cause as we all know the faster it's done the more we make. So long as the quaility goes unharmed.

Cheers</FONT c>
