Getting ready to start my own business. Ive been doing some research and to my finding it is not advised to buy a pressure washer from a retail store. The pressure washer is a Troy Built 3700 psi 4gpm 13hp pressure washer with honda engine in it. The contractor grade type. Looks good too me. Can any one give advice?

It ran very poorly, smoked a lot. The pump would chatter - and I had great water pressure and supply. Call Mark. He is the one who has posted in this thread. Use him as a resource and avoid the mistakes I made.

You won't find a quality machine locally for a better price than Mark has. Give him a ring, get a price, then see how it matches up with your local shops.

I think you'll be quite surprised.

Hey meads,

I have been in business for four years and have been using a home depot devilbliss 3500, 3600, 3700 psi cold water portable unit at 4gpm for $995.00. The honda motor is a workhorse. The pump is a Anovi Reverberi which I have rebuilt or replaced a few times. I am very happy with the motor but it seems like I have to replace the pumps every year. Not to bad considering I use the machines 40+ hours a week. For the money to just start out with, I think this would be good for you. I am now looking to get a hot water skid mount. I change the oil religiously. They still start up at one pull. Definetly a good machine for the money.

I have 4 machines that are driven with the Honda engines... Cat is right they are a work horse. I may be unloading one if you are interested. I just bought a hydrotek Skid Unit... My advice to both of you is what Tony said... Call mark.. Don't make the same mistake I did.. Soend a few extra bucks and get a belt or gear drive unit. THis will enable you to easily use a float tank on jobs where water supply / pressure / flow is marginal. I was using a float tank with my Direct Drives and it was a pain in the butt

All the units I've seen at HD, Lowes or other hardware/retail stores have steel frames which will rust in no time. Best to Buy a unit with an Aluminum frame. Just somthing else to consider.

I have A Lowes 3700

I have a 3700 psi washer from Lowes and it has paid for itself many many times so I can only tell u good about it.If u are just startin out though u might want to try a smaller psi cause if u dont know the amount of pressure that comes out at the tip very well u can cause alot of damage to property. You might need the additional psi for specific situations like cleaning concrete. You can reduce/regulate your pressure by switching to larger orifice nozzles as needed.
