my unloader crapped out and my hot water stopped.
i changed the unloader, set it, and changed the pressure switch.
Everything on that end seems fine.
Started the burner no problems. Thought i had it fixed. After about a min or two the hot water stops. Charged battery. Still stops. changed fuel filter. Still stops. checked fuse[it's good] still stops.
I can hear the burner working and heat comeing out of the stack but no rush of hot air like i usally get.
So im thinking it's the blower motor getting hot and shutting down.
What is your opinion? Its a stand up burner 12 volt oil fired.
What is my next step? I need heat ASAP. lARGO WASH UNIT.

If I understand what you are telling me, your burner runs a few minutes then shuts down, then it will later run again for a few minutes and shut down??

Is you washer equipped with a thermostat?
If not what about a high limit switch.

Basically we need to know everything that is part of the burner circuit, is functioning properly. :IE Battery, switch, pressure switch, fuel solenoid, blower motor, ignitor and relay.
Start at the battery is it fully charged?

Why don't you meet me in the "CHAT AREA" at 8:30 PM PDT
we can further diagnose your problem then.
(Approximately 3 hours from now.)

Sounds like maybe you have fuel smoldering in the lower insulation disc.
I will look for you in the Chat area.

I think you already know the problem but still scatching ya head.

If the blowers motor kicks on and later noblows, its as you know either overheating and kicking its little breaker off(push reset button) or if its coming to a stop slowly as you know is as you say done for.

Could even be your fuel pump dragging to overheat motor, could even be the shaft that runs from the fuelpump to motor stripped alittle if the motor is still running but noblow, you could have even wire your switch wrong,,,,could be could be when working on the burner system....guess ya know dat my now uh,one of these days you'll shot fire out vent nomore then 3 feet when working on the burner system,no big deal several of us have our degree on dat.

unwire your motor from the system, run a hot and ground from the battery to motor,it should run great if good as its getting full power from the battery,if it drags or stops its done for.

thanks MARK

Turns out the new unloader was defective. It was letting in air and messing with the pressure switch. That was one of the reasons for changing it in the first place, but i did'nt know it had to do with the unloader.
All is well in mudville and my head is starting to feel better.
Thanks again.
my unit has both a pressure switch and a flow switch, add in the wires are mostly the same color and what a headache. They are marked now.

Ron,

Glad to be of assistance! I figured you had it squared away when you did not call back.
