Mildew Removal

I need some advice on how to remove some algee from some old brick sidewalks. I was asked about cleaning some old brick sidewalks that are a safty hazard . They are in a very shaded place and when they are the least bit damp they are very slippery. Normally, I would not have any trouble with spraying some bleach on them then wash them with my surface cleaner. However they do not want me to use any bleach, any phosphates, or salts or helagens(whatever that is) on them. They would like me to use as low of pressure as possable. They have done it themselves before and the algee comes back in a matter of a couple of weeks, I guess because they have not killed it. Oh by the way the sidewalks do not have to be clean when I'm done, just safe. The customer wants to keep the old look, these bricks are very old. I have between 15,000 and 20,000 sq ft to bid on. Would hot water alone kill the algee?

Explain to them that their method isnt killing it, and either you need to use chems or they are gonna have to put up with frequent cleanings. If you do find a way.. LET ME KNOW PLEASE!
