Multi Coats of CWF

What product for a stripper would be a good starting place. I have posted a msg on Russell's board also.

This is my uncles house and he had previously applied the 2nd or 3rd coat on top. He now wants it stripped if possible and if not at least a good wash.

Thanks in advance guys and gals,

Anthony

Hey Powerkleen,

The only thing I have found that works for CWF is StripexL from Biowash (biowash.com) Start using it at 3:1 and strengthen or weaken as needed. I promise, this is the only thing that I have found that works well.

Good Luck,

Even with the StripexL, I have had trouble removing multiple coats of CWF. Sometimes takes 2 or 3 strippings to get it all. It seems to penetrate layer by layer, peels off like sunburned skin.

And, every time I've encountered that, the decks developed fuzzies, even though I used low water pressure. Now, I always tell the customer that CWF is difficult to remove, and there may be fuzzies after it is stripped.

Rick,
If the customer is willing to pay for it, I sand the rails with a palm sander, and the deck boards with a belt sander. If not, I have a couple brooms with stiff bristles that I brush over the surface to knock down alot of the fuzzies. Fortunately it doesn't happen very often, and usually I have an idea up front which ones may fuzz up.

Like I said, I always let the customer know up front, that there may be some fuzzing. This way, the expectations are set, and there are no surprises.

We have stripped many cedar decks this year with CWF-UV on them using a 12% solution of sodium hydroxide. Expect to sand! On ANY strip job we factor in the cost for sanding...

We are now using Random Orbitals and 9" 3m pads on grinders.. makes pretty quick work of the fuzzies.
