multi color brick

Here is another question. This house has brick but i cant explain what kind. Its multi color or speckled.Red with kind of like white stripes or grooves all over.I have started using bleach lately,i know there is lots of contraversy about it,but it really works and have to rinse less.I always get paranoid when i use limonene that i am not rinsing enaugh and it will streak the siding.
Anyway, the question is will the bleach by any means streak or discolor that brick???Another thing.their porch has outside carpet, its green, they want the roof over it washed. If i put bleach on it,wont it discolor and ruin it,should i cover it.??I dont think it will come clean with just water but i dont feel like putting any soap over their carpet .
Thanks a lot

Hello again Johny.....If its indoor out door carpet then bleach shouldnt hurt it. if it isnt really old you can actually wash it with the wand (wouldnt reccomend surface cleaner as that is too close to the surface). As far as the brick goes I would say try a small test area out of plain site if u are worried about it.

I have sprayed cleaning solutions that include bleach over those outdoor carpets before........no damage was done, but I couldnt rinse the carpet very well.......just kept producing suds........ so I left it........didn't hear back that they had any problems........

Always, try test area on the brick prior to cleaning. Pick a spot that is low and out of sight. If the color is a light slurry coat and not baked into the brick it could be removed just with the water washing. Bleach "usually" has no adverse affect on masonry.
