WOW!
Sky Blue Window Cleaning. LOVE it! In 4 words you know exactly what you do. But if you ever branch out, then you are quite right, you would need to consider a modification.
Maybe..
Sky Blue Cleaning Services
with a slogan of....
"The sky's the limit with Sky Blue!"
That is a FUN name!
I think a one man company needs a larger than life name as much as any other company does, and one reason is the mindset the consumer has with regards to contractors. It goeas back to impressions and appearance. Set yourself apart. Be bigger than life. You have to make your name a HOUSHOLD name (assuming residential here folks) if you are going to caprute market share, and that means being memorable. Doesn't matter if you are small, if you are memorable you will be on more solid ground.
What mike said has alot of merit. But the reverse can be true. You can have a great name, and be overpriced and give lousy service and be in real trouble. You have to get the bigger picture, you have to do what's right, and do it consistantly. If you are doing things right, it's half the battle. Now add that golden name....
Personally I think naming companies and products is fun and I love doing it. If you find yourself in that position, write everything down that comes to mind, even the things you think are too corny. Write down any ideas others have. Brainstorm too. You'll be amazed at the ideas you'll generate.
