My Trusty 1996 Honda 18HP @ 8 GPM
Hello Ladies & gents,
I have taken out my Trusty 1996 Honda 18HP @ 8 GPM machine after
13 years of storage. It has 117 Hours on it. I squirted Fogging Oil in the 2 cylinders
and turned it over before I stored it.
I had the pump rebuilt, I soaked the carb and cleaned it out w/air.
Started up like a champ.
Blowing some smoke from the Fogging oil, it will burn off after a good run.
I installed a new K7 Unload er on the rig and it would not build up any pressure.
I tried to adjust it and nothing happened.
Tomorrow I will install the original K7 back in there and see what gives.
These Valves don't have any Model Mumber Markings on them, is it possible when I bought the new unit they sent me one for a smaller GPM rating, and this is why it will not build up pressure?
2.1-2.9 GPM
2.9-4.2 GPM
4.2-6.6 GPM
6.6-10.8 GPM - this is the one I need.
I also installed a EZ Start valve (I did not have one before)
And the Safety Pressure Relief Valve is new.
When the machine was running for a few minutes the pressure was low, maybe 50-100 lbs. max and both the EZ Start & Safety Pressure Relief Valve were shooting water out every now and then. I had the EZ Start plumbed to the left/top of the pump head looking at it on the Out side of the unload er. On the right side top of the pump I have the Safety Pressure Relief Valve. So the EZ Start Valve is on a "Tee" with the Pressure hose connect on one side and the EZ Start on the other.
on the bottom of the Pump to the right it is Plugged closed.
On the left side bottom is my 1 .25" Water line feed. I also have a pressure gauge on the unload er.
I use a 55 Gallon White Plastic Water Drum for a water feed with a 4' foot 1.25" ID Suction Hose Feed, it worked well years ago. I also have the Bypass line hooked up to a return line to the 55 Gallon Drum with a 4' foot hose and 3/8" Quick Disconnects.
So I will try the original unload er tomorrow as it was adjusted to the machine before.
This time I will not install the EZ Start Valve and I will see how it works.
All the Oils have been changed, Royal Purple Gear oil and Pump oil in the pump, all levels are correct.
I use 65/10 size tips for cleaning, they work well.
Any advice would be mighty kind,
Thanks, Russ
