Need help with a limestone house

Hello to everyone!

Have just recently found this site, and have been impressed with it to date.
I have an upcoming house to clean which has a lower half of local native limestone, and an upper half of painted wood construction.
My question is: Since this is the first house I will be washing that is made of limestone, will my normal mix (ultra clorox, tide, jet dry)
remove the mold & mildew from the stone, or will I need to try a different mixture. Would like to use the same cleaner on the house as a whole if possible. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks,
Roger....

Roger,
I did my own home this week using the basically the same chemicals you propose. It worked just fine. The house was built in 1956 and this was the first time for a wash. It looks a lot better.
Good Luck,

my 2 cent's worth

i would swap the tide for Dawn dish soap, dawn is made to foam up. Foam is what holds the bleach to the vertical surface. Tide is made not to foam up[so it wont overflow your washing machine]. Jet dry is for helping with water spots on glass so it has no use on limestone.
Bleach is a 6% solution of sodium hyperchlorite, pool chlorine is a 12% solution[liquid].
Downstreamers get a 20% draw, a pump up sprayer gets 100%.
So if it were me. pool chlorine and 1 cup dawn in a pump up sprayer to apply.
[mix in an open container] use your head and be safe. Gloves, eye protection, and spraying ANY chem you should wear a canister type spray mask. Remember long term effects not just that day.
pre water any plant/grass[heavly] life but try and keep a dry surface to apply the chem.[use hot water,to wash, if you have it]
it will clean like a knife threw butter.
if you want to brighten up the stone try some oxalic acid after the washing.[test first]

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

Ron- Will try subing the Dawn for the Tide. Haven't tried that yet, but it makes sense. Also will try applying some oxalic acid on the stone lower half after cleaning if I feel it needs a little more "kick" in its looks!

thanks again,
Roger.....

I don't think Dawn would work better then Tide...............but that's just an opinion, and I've never tried the Dawn. I use Tide along with Liquid Cascade. I also include about a cup of Delco's R-109 detergent.

Thats another reason why I like the Liquid Cascade in there, it thickens it up a bit, acts as a surfactant. Better then I think Dawn would work.

I'll have to try the Dawn sometime and compare it.

Not an expert on the Tide question, but do know it is formulated to facilitate the use of bleach, at least in a washing machine. Mike, I use a lot of Dawn - seems to have good active agents.
