Netscape

Hey,

I know Dan had mentioned the problems with all the updates to this board and using a Netscape browser. Is anyone having as much trouble as I am. I can hardly get this site loaded and when I do it is hard to get around. When I come onto the site it doesn't recognize me as a member, so don't know if it will let me even post this message! I never had problem one until all the updates, don't get me wrong Dan, they are nice. Ya, I know I can change browsers, but don't want to dump my whole system on its ear, if you know what I mean! Thought you might want to know what it looks like from a Netscape point of view................Rob

I have tested it and it looks fine to me. It did seem a little slower. I will do two things. For today anyone that has Netscape and IE. Try Netscape for me and let me know what happens. If you did not use Netscape on this board before. You will have to put in your username and password the first time. Remember to type it in correctly, it is case sensitive.

Then, later I will remove the side bar, meaning the blue strip on the side with home and forum links. I think that might be the problem. At that point we can test it and see if that side bar needs to be adjusted.

Please, anyone who can help with this. Get involved so we can fix the problem.

Dan,

I got rid of Netscape five or six months ago since it gave me problems with the voice chat room. I'd try to help with your problem solving, but I uninstalled it.

I still have problems with the chat room, get disconnected all the time. I think it is just my dial-up connection.......I'm seriously considering DSL.

Mine works fine as well. I know things do not look as good with Netscape. Netscape read things different than IE. I think it really is crappy. Don't get me wrong, I certainly am not super happy with Microsoft products either. Well we will leave it this way for awhile, then try some other things.

If you are having problems, You can down load IE for free, from their site. I will put up a link. There is nothing wrong with having two browsers.

The poll will not accept my password and at times my name. I have just not voted on the Weekly issue. I would like to change the "l" to "L", regardless what I try, no luck. The site is great-it could not be better.

Hey Dave,

I am working on a script that will put your user name and password in the box automatically. I also working on a change user name thing. I think it would be good for some of the members that have real long names. It messes up the board. Maybe they could use their real name or shorter nick name. Then put the name of their company in the signature area.

Hang in there, we have a long way to go.

Dan,

I posted here yesterday and for some strange reason it did not post, am now using IE and hate it, well a version of it that Earthlink uses.

I much prefer Netscape over IE, but like others said, not much of a MS fan, we all use MS products and yet hate them at times.

I have the same problem as David, does not remember who I am, so must enter my name and password each time. I know you will get it fixed sooner or later and can wait till then.

Sorry to repost, this is what I wrote in the suggestions and feedback forum........

Hey Dan, You have done a great job on this board. I'm about like a sponge, I come here every night to soak up all the info I can that will help me on my jobs. I have one question. When you changed the board around, you said you had problems with NETSCAPE. A recent post said it was fixed. I use NETSCAPE and when I go into a topic, it will start
pulling it up and then it says document done at the bottom. This is normal, but it doesn't pull the topic up. I can click reload and it will say the same thing and about 3 or 4 seconds later the screen pops up. I'm not complaining, just thought it might have a bug or two to still work out. And again I'd like to thank you for giving us this awesome board full of knowledge from some real pros.

I didn't want to put any pressure on you Dan, I know your plate is full already, just figured you couldn't tune something in if you didn't know it was off. I Fix my NETSCAPE by getting rid of all those instant messager programs.
For some reason they tend to be intrusive and non-compatible with Netscape.
I use Netscape 4.7
(wouldn't have anything else!)

If you are having password problems check out http://www.pedigree-pet.org/

On the bottom of that page is a software called GATOR - it's free & with 1 click of a button it fills in my member name and password at any site that I frequent.
You can drag & drop form information also!

Hey Guys,

Keep it coming. I am working on it. Did you guys with the (Not remembering your username problem) try to go to your preference area and make sure you have the cookie box check, so your browser remembers you. If not try it.

The weird thing about Netscape, some have problems and others don't. For now get IE if you don't have it. You can download it for free from Microsoft web site. I will figure it out one way or another.
