Will a new , never before stained deck, require any more sealer than one previously treated ? Or will there be any noticeable difference ? Thanks everyone.

Berry, you still need to get the mill glaze off.
oxlic acid will do the job, with pressure washing.
Then let it dry, then a good quality oil based sealer.
Over est. your sealer to be safe. Also how you apply it will make a diffrence as will what you use.
By washing and the acid it will open the grain of the wood to accept the sealer.

Sometimes I think the new decks take less sealer..........versus the old nasty dried up wood that tends to soak it up.

I have found that new wood takes less sealer.

Splash test the wood, if the water soaks up quickly the mill glaze may not be present. The splash test will tell you.

I have seen a lot of new construction with wood that has been at the mill for a while and the mill glaze is really weak if not gone totally.
