I got a call from a lady who wants me to wash her house,the problem is she lives right by a stream and she wants to know exactly what chemicals I would be using and they have to be 100% safe for the waterway.I have been using M1 house wash or bleach and liquid tide.I don't think thats what she wants to hear!I have never had a single problem with damage to landscapes or plants and I probably should know the properties of the chemicals I am using.I just don't,I know they all say they are bio-degradable,but as someone on the board said before everythiong is bio-degradable at some point.Does anyone have a formula for house washes that could satisfy even the most ******nmentally concious person.

Hey JR;

This is a tough one. There really isn't anything that you should allow into the stream other than water.

I would discuss the problem honestly with the client. You could offer to do a no-chem wash.

If you use a bleach/detergent mix for mildew or mold make sure you put up some portable dams to insure that the runoff doesn't go directly into the creek. Having foamy runoff in the creek would be a bad thing - even if the runoff is "biodegradeable." Let the surrounding earth do the work. Let the runoff percolate through earth to allow the bleach or whatever to break down (this is how wetlands work for wastewater processing).

Have fun,

This is what I do when washing houses around lakes...USE WATER ONLY...This will kept you out of hot water in the long run...You don't what any one to turn you in and now we are talking about being fine...I for one can't afford this and it's not good bussiness. It take a little longer but just add 1 hour to your price... Remember this earth started with clean clear water...Good luck...

This is direct from a rep at the Dept of Health & ******mental Concerns Faxed me here in South Carolina

Pressure Washing a house , to start with the contaminants are just mold and dirt. not foreign to the ******ment. Second, probably more important, is that most water from washing the house would go into the soil in a shrubbery bed or the yard adjacent the house : it would not make it to a storm drain or creek . therefore we do not reqiure permitting."

I am sure M-1 breaks down fast with your rinse water it should say something on the label also check your bleachs home page for some good ****** safe talk

hope this is able to at least steer you into a good answer
