I just read Cody's post, I must say the is some AWESOME info. Thanks Cody. I am after some experienced guys. Winter is coming and the natural gas produces loose tons of money when their compressors freeze up. I know there are guys doing this. Just don't know how to contact them. So, what is invovled, would this have to be an hourly/mileage rate? Any info and suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

John Lowry

I've got several years experience at running winter Oilfield "Steamer" truck.Essentially a mobile pressure wash unit that is tuned for producing steam.
Here in northern Alberta it is an essential service for all aspects of production and drilling of gas and oil.
Rates vary from year to year but currently as follows:(Canadian $)

Truck and Operator $130.00 - 135.00 /hr
Additional Operator $40-45.00 /hr
Chemical Solvent based $14.00 liter
Chemical Water based $12.00 liter
Travel time and standby at location is billed at the regular rate, however sometimes for longer term work (booking the truck for 2 weeks or more) a day rate is given.
other charges are noted but I am not sure if they would applt to your area???

Work generally for the winter consists of freeze ups ( called hydrates) in gas lines and produced water lines, drilling fluid heating , frozen valves, B.O.P. ( Blow Out Prevention) device heating on drilling and service rigs, steaming valves and catchers for pipeline pigging operations etc.etc.
Washing of drilling rigs prior to the rig getting trucked to the next location to clean drilling waste from the rig so as not to contaminate the roads and envirnment is also fairly steady and mandated by government.
Pipeline construction equipment quite often requires the tracks and undercarriage of the equipment to be washed thouroughly before entering the next farmers section of land to ensure cross contamintion of seeds and roots of undesirable weeds are not spread and again is quite often mandated in the pipeline costruction approvals given by landowners and government.
Ask around the construction companies government offices dealing with this and anyone in the line of work.Doors will start to open

Steam is generated safely to 300 degrees F ( 150 C) with conventional equipment and can be made hotter and drier (less water more vapor ) with a little bit more exspense.

Another oppurtunity for steam / powewrwash trucks is Gas Compressor Cooler cleaning in the summer months These big radiators will plug with pollen, dust, and the fluff from cottonwood trees which shuts down these compressors as they cannot cool effectively. When gas is compressed to increase the pressure to push it down the next leg of pipeline heat is generated and thus the reason for these coolers.Just like the radiator on your car if the rad gets plugged you will overheat.
Other oppurtunties include jetting sewer line freeze ups and blockages(year round) as well as grease control of sewer service lines leading from restaruant grease traps lines etc . which require specialty hose and tips.

Any info on what you would need I would be happy to help as time permits.
