I had a first today.........I sealed a deck the wrong color! I sealed it Natural Cedar when it was supposed to be Light Brown.......not too terrible of a difference. I didn't realize it until I got to the next job and saw that the Light Brown pail had not been opened.

I have not called the customer about it, nor do I plan to. If they notice and have a problem with it, I expect a call. Will deal with it then.

Anyone else ever do this?

MIKE!!!!
Hmmmmmmmmmm, senility setting in there my friend???

[spaz]

Have not done it {{{yet}}} but I am sure my time is coming.
I agree with you though. I would not say a thing unless the customer does. I like the cedar better anyway!

That customer just called me two minutes ago. I was nervous when I saw it on the caller ID...........but he just wanted to know what he should do because there are two or three spots where the sealer is still wet. I answered his questions then asked him how the deck looks, if he's happy.........and he said it looks great.

I agree with you, Den.........I like Natural Cedar better too.

Hi Mike, Yes we have done this too, Our problem is we now have 3 salesman doing quotes and sometimes they forget to tell us that the deck is cedar. It's not sooo bad on decks, but when you do a cedar fence, watch out it really looks too candy red. Your right in keeping your head down, the customer will never notice the difference. Ready Seal will cure out in about ten days and look beautiful. Take care buddy, Chris Detter

Hey Mike,
Just interested in what you told your custumer about the wet spots in case i run in to that, wipe it off or let it sit??
Once i noticed that and just wiped it off.I clened the whole porch with naoh and there was one board that looked red and was still wet the next morning
Thanks,Johny

Well, it had been over a day since i sealed the deck, and it was only a few spots. I figured if it had not soaked in by now, it wasn't going to, so I instructed him to wipe them off......
