Paint prep for house... need some advice please

I used to hang out here a few years ago.. some of you may remember me. Anyway, I will be washing my house this weekend and will begin actual paint prep work next weekend. The house is a two story with brick on the bottom and masonite hardboard siding on the top, which is where most of the problem areas are located. The masonite siding is in great shape for it's age, but the wood trim on the overhangs is peeling badly. To make matters worse, the vents on the gable ends are large and very open, so it won't take much to shoot water into the house if I'm not carefull. I was thinking about covering those vents with plastic from inside the attic and covering the attic floor with plastic just in case. Would that be a waste of time? The paint surface is dirty, but there is no mold except on the gutters, which will be taken down anyway for cleaning and repainting. The windows are vinyl with the wood trim cased in aluminum. I have several PW tools to work with, which leaves me with several cleaning options. My PW is a cold water 3500psi/4gpm machine. I also have a 24ft extension wand, a turbo nozzle, and an X-jet. I know the X-jet would be the simple route since the extension wand is unstable when extended. I have some Jomax, Bleach, and Dawn soap, but no TSP. What is the best way to approach this task and what chemical mix should I use? Which color proportioner should I use in the X-jet? Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to fully explain my situation to get the best possible answers. It's good to still see a lot of familiar names on this board that I remember from years ago. Thanks in advance for your help.
