Paint stripping

Hello !
I would like to find out ,how to strip paint.I wash some brick at my in-laws house, which of course was a freebie, and it turned out great without any chemicals. They have one little side of the house that is not vinyl, and wanted it stripped and painted. So i tried zero nozzle, when keeping a safe distance ,it didnt do anything. There are about 3 layers of old paint ,thats chipping everywhere and beeing that loose, should have come off.I put the nozzle real close, and it started coming off,but was also leaving a trace in the wood, basicly tearing it up,so i quit.Whats the suggestion here, will i have to buy a paint stripper and brush it on there,if so whats the dwell time.
Another question,is it safe for pw to get wet,i have a brand new one,and not sure about this,it was coming a bad storm last night, since i didnt know ,i wrapped up and went home, escaped this time. What do you guys do,cover up the engine?
Last question where could i buy a zero degree rotating nozzle at a fair price.??
Any help is greatly appreaciated,Thanks,Johny

Well stripping wood with a turbo tip is a tough one as it will more than likely tear the wood up. If you decide to use stripper, let it dwell as long as possible, and it only really works when it is still wet(not water wet} The can should tell ya how long to let it sit. Once you put it on do not agitate it by brushing over and over again as it dries quicker then. I went to school to Paint in the Union and these are things My instructor told me. As far as buying a tip, I paid about 90 bucks for mine, for an 8,5 gpm machine, so ya have an idea if you are getting gipped. Good luck !! Mike Taylor

Also, to answer your Question about your machine, I havent had any problems at all when mine has got wet. Whatever you do KEEP IT LOCKED UP ALL THE TIME!! I have heard of guys being on a roof and someone pulled up whacked the hoses with a machete, threw it in the back of a truck while it was running and disappeared !! So take the time to do it. Good luck Mike

HI John,
Just finish striping and painted a house... I use a rotating nozzle on the house and works out better than scraping the paint... After the wash then used a wire brush to get the remaining chips off... Not going to get in all off without using any paint striper... Let in dry for 2 days and primed, then painted...If you what to go and spend some extra money on stripper it will go easy,,,,BUT you are going to end up killing grass, plants and who wants the lady of the house on your case....Should be able to get a nozzle at any dealer.... Hope this help out...
