Perfect Opportunity

Hello, I am fairly new to the PW business. And thought maybe you experts could throw me some ideas for this one..
The National High School Rodeo Championship is in town at our fairgrounds til this wed. night. I had no idea how big this was til i went by there tonight. There are hundreds of Rv's and Horse trailers. I figured I might be able to set up somewhere and go to town. I know people will probably need their Horse trailers cleaned and possibly Rv's. If anyone can shoot me any ideas on what to charge, Where target my business towards this ( For people who have done this similiar work), or any quick ways to clean these. We have both hot and cold water and can carry 165 gal of water on our trailer and 250 gal on my truck. should this be enough water to do a few jobs or should we find a source? I have only done houses and some flat work so far and any ideas or tips would be great.thanks........Bigreds

I dont have any advise about how to clean them, thats not my area of expertise.

But, I would say that you should find a water source for sure. Talk to the management of the fairgrounds. If you do wash RV's and such, be sure to hand out your business cards to everyone. Remember, they all have houses and maybe other contacts as well. I hope this works out for you.

be very very carefull.. some people are real bone heads .where is your soap going to? what about any greese? dont do the moters on those rv's.keep in mind that some people dont care they can and will call somebody and complain about something.and bingo now you must deal with it.
dont get me wrong you have a great idea but somtimes keeping a low profile is good.
i never had this happen to me but i have heard of it happened to other p/wers.
fist i would check with your local epa and ask them and advoid all the BUFF.....
just a thought ........

Think of yourself as any other consession. Approach the promoter of the event and tell them you would like to set up (AWAY FROM THE HORSES) I am a horseman and the machine could drive some of them nuts. The promotor will want paid...If I was the promotor I would charge you the same that I charge the other vendors that have water hook up. I would look at like a cost of doing business. Then I would do a fast flyer on the commputer and after you are set up walk the show and pass them out. As for what to charge I would make it a number that will get them on there feet. They are going to drag the trailer to you so you can just stay in one spot. I would approach this as a good way to show off your services...kinda a form of advertising so I would keep the fees low to have activity and get the folks that are from the area to come watch and then hire you to do thier house. I have done my 2 place horse trailer and it takes about 20 mins inside and out. (I keep it clean however.) To get it going and have some action go for $6.00 per stall on the trailers. That might be a little on the light side from the hourly perseptive but remember you want them lined up and to have plently of action.

Dan S brought up some good posts. Here is a fix.

*Dont use soap
*Just clean with cold water (wink)
*If you have time talk to your local epa and explain this is a one time shot and most of what you will be cleaning is bio-degradable horse poop.

My guess is most of your work will be the horse trailers and not the RV's.

If you get set up on gravel near where them pile the horse poop anyway then you should be ok.

It's ONLY my 2-cents!

...but I would try to avoid EPA at all cost! I'm not saying don't follow EPA guide lines. Just don't stir up the hornets nest! If they don't notice you - you will have a little more room to breath!

as for the show - if it is a State Fairgrounds - 9 out of 10 they may be very aware of EPA already!
I wouldn't spook 'em about washing trucks - JUST trailers & if ya' can - throw in a truck or two!
Play possum! Don't make any move towards that being a part of your plan - heck! It JUST happened!
Good luck!
