Pigeon Poop

High Pressure

New Member
Haven't look at the job yet, but the customer explained that he is on the second floor of a building and his window is right above a ledge with a store sign. Pigeons have been nesting there for a long time and the poop has built up so much the smell is horrendous. He said I might need some scrapers to get it off.

Any suggestions on how to tackle such a job?

First of all he needs to have a pest control put a bird barrier or spikes up to deture the pigeons from comming back. You will need a special resporator when doing this job. What i reccommend is team up with a pest control company and work on the bid together. He does the pest control you do the cleaning. If the customer doesn't want to do that call the health dept. as it is a health concern. Pigeon crap causes alot of diseases.

It seems that 200 years ago two statues were put up in New York City. One was of a naked man and the other was of a naked woman. They had been placed looking at each other, in all of their glory. One day an angel came down and brought them to life.
He told them, "you have 30 minutes to do whatever you want to, I suggest you use the time wisely."
Of course the man and the woman ran off behind a row of bushes laughing and giggling all of the way. In 15 minutes they came back. It was obvious that they had enjoyed themselves a lot.
The angel suggested that they had 15 minutes if they wanted to do it again. The two former statues got really excited and started running for the bushes. The angel smiled, and then he heard the man say, "This time, you hold the pigeon while I poop on its' head."

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

It should clean up easy with hot water but like was said above ,respirator a must.Just like chicken crap it can cause lung infection, pigeons carry lots of viruses and diseases, such as meningitis. My wife is a nurse ,she said lady once died from it where she works.Wear gloves if you have any cuts on your hands.Just to be safe ,otherwise dont worry much about it

Thanks for the tips and warnings about the health risks. I thought it over and realized it wasn't worth it. I called the customer and explained how unhealthy it could be and he agreed that he leaves the office sick every day. He said nobody believes him, especially the landlord who won't do anything about it. He said he's reporting it to the Department of Health.

No wonder why he was practically giving the job to me over the phone . . . because he knew nobody else wanted to touch it.

man, i'd at least bid the fool out of that thing and see if you can get it. Johny is right, wear a resporator, potential for several airborne diseases. i cleaned a job like this in an old prison, i was cleaning the prison where they taped 'the green mile'. it is here in town and been closed forever. the pidgeons had bombed it pretty good, but very easy cleaning. hot water not needed. MAKE SURE to wear resporator, and throw a steep bid, you'll never make 500 dollars per hour if you dont try!!

good luck!

I rented -2- 115 volt diesel fired hot hp washers to a contractor last year. 2.2 GPM @ 1000 PSI and a 3 GPM @ 700 psi.

He had a contract cleaning the pigon poop off of the roof of the local jail. (Sacramento County)

His employees told me the hot hp washers did a great job!

My opinion BID IT HIGH! If you get it take precautions (respirator etc.)

Good Luck!

When i read your post ,i exactly thought what others have said, bid it high. You might make $500 an hour, try it,now that you know nobody wants it,call back and and give a price, say, man just for you i will do it for so much. You wont get sick if you wear a respirator
Just my thoughts,i never like to say i cant or wont do it
