Pitch Witch roof cleaning attachment

#1
Has anyone tried this mechanism on a roof and how did it work? It looks like the picture the sponsor sent in has this apparatus cleaning a cedar roof. Most people have asphalt shingled roofs in my neck of the woods and we usually clean roofs with mostly chemicals and very little pressurized water due to possibly damaging the shingle.

How about using this mechanism for concrete and other flat work. Has anyone tried that and how did it work? We use concrete cleaning machines (spinning tips) on most flat works when applicable.

John,
The Pitch Witch is something I have been working on over the past couple of years. I have had great success with it on all types of roof surfaces. It is basically a lightweight spray bar with adjustable wheels that attaches to your extension wand to clean steep pitch roofs from the ground. I set it up for between 500 and 750 psi based on your machines gpm. I have used it successfully to clean other surfaces too. The low pressure set up makes it ideal for decks. Since I have had so much success with it I felt it might benefit others as well so I decided to make it available through internet marketing and what better place to start than right here on Dan's board. It's all aluminum and stainless construction will give you years on trouble free performance and will pay for itself on the first roof cleaning job. The only other way I know to clean a steep pitch roof would be to repel with ropes and harnesses or rent one of those "cherry pickers" or boom lifts. Sorry it took so long to reply...

Glenn, do you use the Pitch Witch to apply chemicals, rinse or both? I have a cart that I use on walkable roofs that is simuliar to yours and covers a 54" path. With a 24' extension wand and standing on the ground, do you have problems reaching the top of steep piched roofs?

I was thinking the same thing Harold. With the two stories in my area, i have an extremely hard time getting to the top of roofs with an x-jet, much less with an extension wand, resulting in the multi level roof's would still require getting on the roof with just a 24 ft extension wand.

But, i think the idea is incredible. Well thought out and well designed. Since the pressure is reduced so low, a possible alternative to an extension wand would be several joints of conduit (for example), or some other type of lightweight yet strong pipe could be used to reach further up them roofs, with minimal control loss.

Glenn, great job, i will definitely let the two roof cleaners in my area know about the new breakthrough.

Yes,
I use it to apply chems and rinse, however, most of the time I apply the chem with a chemical injector simiular to the x-jet. I have a 36 ft. extension wand that will reach the ridge on the 2nd story roofs, well the roofs that cover the 2nd story and start just above the 1st story. Those are usually the steep ones. I am a distributor for the company that makes the extra long wands. As soon as I get some images of their equipment I will include more info on my web site about them.
Harold, do you rinse with the 54 inch cart?
Thanks Craig.

Glenn, I apply just to saturation but try not to have any run off. This eleminates the damage to folage. The black fungus is killed and turns to a powder which is washed off with the first rain, so I don't have to rinse. You could rinse if you want to. After applying with the cart, I switch to a 4' wand (one nozzle) to catch any areas that need a second application.

How can I get some information on this cart?

I looking at trying to target roof jobs. I want to do them quick with minimum work, but has to be a Quality job.

Thanks

Harold, Thanks for the information. What kind of chemicals do you use to clean roofs? There is a big call in Florida for clean roofs. Most developments have codes to keep the houses in good condition including their roofs. Anna

I have a Pitchwitch and a Coress wand. They work great. Anyone interested in these products is welcome to call me for feedback. I feel this is much better than the bleach method. Bleach will soften the shingles. Yes they will look good but how long will the roof last after?

Thanks for providing the feedback Steve. Sometimes people like to hear it from someone else besides the one selling the product. The Coress wands are available in lengths up to 60 ft. so you shouldn't have any problem reaching the peak on steep pitched roofs. Our Pitch Witch is available in 2 widths, a 16" and a 24" model. We have NewAgain roof and Deck cleaner available at a competitive price, and it won't damage plant's, siding, paint, etc. and is 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly. In adition to the above products we now offer Hot and Cold Water Pressure Washers including the Tuff brand. We have Surface cleaners, hoses, turbo nozzles, parts and accessories, etc. If it has to do with Power Washing we've got it. I am working on a catalog to be released in the Spring of 2002, and will be updating the web site with more products and prices soon. If you are interested in a catalog or would like to join our mailing list email me your company name and address. In the mean time call me if you need anything as I'll be happy to quote you over the phone.

We have the Coress Wands. They are quality telescopic wands unlike the cheaper fiberglass aluminum combo's that last about 1 season. These wands are engineered with heavy guage aluminum tubing and have aluminum couplers unlike the plastice one's on the fiberglass aluminum brands. The hose and gun on the Coress wands are of higher quality and the internal hose quick disconnects out. These units are repairable unlike the cheaper brands. On the cheaper wands the hose, gun and hose end are permanently attached making them impossible to repair or replace parts. There is just no comparison between the Coress wand and the discount brands. You can view these on our web site and I will be happy to quote you prices over the phone. They are available in 4, 6, 8, and 12 foot sections with up to 5 sections. So anywhere between 8ft. (2 4ft sections) uo to 60ft. (5 12ft. sections) are available.
