Ok I don't know whether to feel stupid or enlightened now. I just noticed a blurb in a catalogue about direction of flow thru quick connects. I have never thought about this before or noticed it mentioned but of course mine are backwards. I asume that water flowing from coupler to plug causes a restriction at each joint affecting overall performance output or is there another reasonfor plumbing flow direction from plug to coupler.

I saw the same thing and I have been trying to come up with a good reason why it should be that way. I haven't come up with it yet. Probably 99% of the equipment out there is set up "wrong" according to that information.

I don't think that restriction has any thing to do with it. Your nozzle will be the most restrictive component in the system.
I don't feel stupid or enlightened, yet. I will continue to operate mine "improperly" until someone can convince me otherwise.

See ya,
Rick

Well you could look at it in more than one way.
#1 How do they hook them up on an air compressor?
The Coupler is always on the machine.
#2 how do they hook them up on a carpet machine at the local grocery store?
The Coupler is always on the machine.
#3 How do they hook them up on a Diesel truck?
The coupler is always on the truck and you plug the hose into the truck.
#4 how do they hook them up on a soda pop dispenser at Mc Donalds?
The coupler is always on the CO2 bottle.
Bottom line, All of these have the coupler on the source of the flow and the plug on the hose. Something tells me that they were designed to flow in that direction. Do you think that Pressure washers are any different ?-- These couplers are used in other industries as well as ours.

I saw the same thing so when I was changing out my brass couplers to stainless steel I went ahead and switched out the direction. I did not notice a difference and the o rings are still wearing out at the same pace ;o( ..........so much for technology!

Talking about coupler reversing, I had a PW serviceman tell me the other day that the coupler on the end of the wand is great until you wash out like hog houses, then you want the wand to have the plug and the nozzle to have the coupler. This way you can't accidently catch the edge of a board with the coupler and shoot your tip thru the cracks. Just thought this was a helpfull hint in saving your tips.

I would say it has something to do with the fact that the couplers cost 2-3 times as much as the plugs myself. Nothing like having to put a $5 coupler on every wand and attachment you have....
