Pool Chlorine

Can someone tell me if they are able to find pool chlorine locally. Everything I have been finding at my local pool supply stores doesn't contain sodium hypochlorite but calcium hypochlorite or some other chemical. Does calcium hypochlorite do the same job as the sodium? Thanks for your help.

Check out the places that sell hot tubs too. I find it locally. It cost me $2.25 a gallon for 12% sh.

You want sodium hypochlorite. Don't use calcium hypochlorite, it is far more toxic.

Thanks for the help. I don't know how true this is but I went to one of the big pool and hot tub supply houses here in Columbia and the salesman told me that you cannot get liquid chlorine in SC because it's illegal and he said he didn't carry anything in powder form that contained sodium hypochlorite. So I guess I'll have to buy it over the internet because the bleach thing is getting way too expensive.

I do not know why it would be illegal all it is is strong bleach.

Check any local "chemical company"....or janitorial supply...sombody is selling it....

Look under chemical suppliers in the yellow pages. You may even have to check another cities phonebook because not everyone runs ads in all cities.

I have to drive 35-miles plus to get my chems...

Check local water supply companys. Companys that supply water pipes and fittings for larger companys.
