Well I was just going to start a new thread. To be consistant with my beliefs of not mixing religion with politics I felt that posting in the politicial "Presidents Record" thread would put it in the wrong context....hense the new thread.

I got that part...What I meant about being specific was in regards to your comment..."What's up with all the religious flip-floppers". Since I have no idea what religious flip-floppers you're referring to, or in what area they're flip-flopping, I can't address your comment...

Maybe if you were a bit more specific, and actually opened a topic for discussion, your thread would survive and actually get some responses.

Well..I thought I made a mistake in starting a new thread so I re submitted it and it was there for a while and got censored..

Well, maybe someone with the ability to delete threads is tired of controversial topics? Can't imagine that happening here, but oh well. It won't be the first time.

You're probably right. Controversial threads are interesting tho..this one ran 33 pages!!
Maybe some people take them too seriously and become offended. To me they're just a healthy exchange of viewpoints...nothing to be afraid of or become offended by..hit me with your best shot, if I can't answer it maybe I'll learn something. Whats the problem? Oh well I don't make the decisions I just thought another animated discussion thread might be interesting.

I'm not scared...what's your post? Just use this thread to continue it on...I can't imagine why Mark would kill a thread like that, provided it was in good taste and wasn't too insulting to anyone. Mark?

IT was not Mark who dumped it!

Why look for a controversal thread?

on this thread it was also close to being shut down b/c of religion some guys just want to go on and on about why they think it is right to cut down religion

Scared, No just can't understand why you would want to make such a claim. and bring something up like that.

This BB isnt about how many pages you can make It is about helping , learning , and trying to make your business grow. SOme how it gets off track.

Religion always seems to stir up trouble and makes people mad it is easy to type away and then walk away. If you really want answers e-mail, call or attend Church.

Dale, if you really feel that you need to re-type it go ahead we can let everybody else take a vote on it.

I started a new thread on religion because its in my opinion a much misunderstood subject and the forum is Shoot The Bull...a "anything but work" forum.

I don't agree that anyone who asks a question about the reasoning behind a position is "cutting it down".

Maybe "scared" wasn't the most PC choice of words to use. Maybe " avoid "would have been a better choice but scared seemed like the most accurate to me at the time. After all some form of fear is probably the reason most people avoid things.
There have been statements made implying a unchanging principle like " The founding fathers clearly intended this country as founded in Christianity"
When I posted quotes by the founding fathers clearly stating this was not the case and I aked what people thought of this....avoidence.

When I posted a comparision of the history of Bush vs. Kerry and wondered if anyone could comment on it....nothing.

When I tried to inquire about what seems to me to be inconsistances in the way that people who claim to believe and follow the things written in the Bible because those things are the "Word of God" may in fact be people who just pick and choose those things in the Bible that already fit into their preconcieved ideas.
This is the same thing that drives me nuts about some of my lefty friends...
" I'm an environmentalist....but will never curb any opportunity to pollute the environment by needless travel..or buy unneeded consumer goods all of which pollute in their manufactering processes ..or anti capitalists who's eyes gleam when their pockets bulge with the off the books $$ made from their Political T-shirt biz because they can buy the shirts so cheap from a sweatshop in Bagaledesh. This ability to rationalize away stated principles bugs me.
I see the same thing happening with people who claim their motivation to act in a certain way is because of their belief in the unchanging words and laws found in the Bible when it seems appearent that it has much more in common with a theological buffet...just pick and choose what you like and ignore the rest....just like those damn leftys!!!

My "Religious Flip-Flopper" thread was just an attempt to address this ability to be selectivly blind...just like those damn leftys!!

The forum is Shoot The Bull.
If the only people who want to be heard from are the people who want to pat each other on the back and parrot.."yup...you're right"...fine, but realise that those people are JUST LIKE those damn leftys who avoid (are scared?) of even considering any potential hypocracy on their part.

I agree that it isn't about how many pages are written in a thread but it does show interest. I don't agree that it stirs up trouble...don't take it that personally.

Dan... "if you really want answers ....email caal go to church"...make about as much sence as going to a "lefty" rally if ypou want real answers.

It was just an idea in a slow time of the year.

It is the fundamental right to speak and write without censorship in this country. This is a country where it is even OK and acceptable to disagree with the leaders in open forums and in print.

Is there a line where freedom of speech is unacceptable... Yes there is... I think it was in the 80's when Sinead Oconner stood on stage of Saturday Night Live, held up a picture of the Pope and said "fight the real enemy". I was kind of shocked as was the FCC and the SNL Producers... they were fined several hundred thousand dollars. And yes it is unacceptable to bash religion on public TV

I seems that Religion debate is avoided in areas that a captive audience is assembled. For example - The schools - where my kids have to attend. And I think that is OK. Separation of Church and State - Oh yea thats right - its guaranteed in the Constitution.

But this is a bulletin board. No one forces me to read these threads. If I was reading something and it offended me... then I would stop reading or in some cases, start writing a reply. As adults... Tact, diplomacy and responsibility pay a huge role in how we communicate and how successful we are in business... We don't or shouldn't make attemps to stir crap up and offer viewpoints of no value other than to use a stick to stir up a beehive.... In the end its the one with the stick that gets stung the most.

Again if we censor this... then what next.... Product news about Belt Drive Pressure Washers?

Censorship will always come into play when you talk Politics and Religion. People have such strong beliefs on these to subjects that in the very extreme they will kill over it. Just look at the Lunatics that shot Gov. Wallace from Alabama and Larry Flynt from Hustler many years ago.

The common knowledge around my neck of the woods is to try not to talk Religion/Politics when there is a group of people around...and especially if there is alcholol being served....Next thing you know we are all censoring each other by starting out with"Don't say that cuss word" Etc.

Probably better to keep these subject matters off these bb's altogether because most people will not convinced others to change there mind because these subjects are just to dangerous....Just look at some of the Parliaments around the country where well respected leaders try to beat the crap out of each other at these things....It actually makes for good Comedy to see it on the News :)

<font color=e87400>In the end I think we got screwed. I think there was foulplay in the polls. Via the Bush Administration, hackers or else I do not know. But I don't believe that Bush really could have won by the margin he did!

More on where religion plays into the whitehouse. After winning the election Bush made a statement <b>"The hand of God is guiding the affairs of this nation"</b> That kinda says it for religion in the whitehouse. In addition to X's against the man. When Karl Rove was asked about the bulge in his, President Bush's, back in the 3rd election he said it was the suit tailor's fault & was just a glitch in the cut of the suit & nothing more. That's yet another "X" against his honesty. Not that it matters now since we are perhaps stuck with him, unless of course poll tampering is found. I realize though that the Bush supporters will see no harm in this & will probably accept the "Bad tailoring" theory about the square thingie in his back or rationalize some other acceptable excuse for it.

We'll see how he does now. He sucked in his first term of office & now he's a lame duck president thus we could be in for a LONGGGGG & painful journey.

You idiots just don't get it, do you? You just can't grasp that a majority of the voters actually disagreed with your vastly more intelligent and enlightened point of view.

Blah blah blah. Get over it. Bush won, there's no evidence that there was any significant foul play, and who the HELL cares whether Bush had a bulge in his jacket or not? He STILL sucked during that debate, so what the HELL are you whining about. Jesus...get OVER IT.

Nice!</font>, and who the HELL cares whether Bush had a bulge in his jacket or not? <font color=red>You should care, you voted for him based on his HONESTY, moral standing & integrity</font> He STILL sucked during that debate, so what the HELL are you whining about. <font color=red>So sucking during that debate dismisses any wrong doing? Like I said in the previous post, "rationalize some other acceptable excuse for it." BULLSEYE! </font> Jesus...get OVER IT. <font color=red>I'm guessing ... = Christ, isn't it a sin to use his name in vain?</font>

<font color=e87400>Wow. All in that short post you defame me (again) you dismissed Bush's dishonesty where you praised his honesty before & then you swear in the Lord's name after stating what a christian you are. Too funny.</font>

some people would complain either way

It is hard to make everybody happy and content.

Those who argue day in and day out are never happy with themselfs.
