Hi Guys, Wondering if fema is going to give out any contracts to help with the cleaning process. I can't imagine them leaving it to clean itself with rain water. I have a nice rig with three 20 hp hondas, all 3000@8 gal., 2 hot boxes and four 30'' surface cleaners. With 1400 gallons of portable water on board and 70 tank for chemical, I'm ready for anything as long as it pays well. I would love to work for free and help, but we all need to pay the bills. I was thinking to devote 1 day per week to orginizations that could use our services, if we had a contract to work during the week for fema or ? If anyone hears about anything solid, please post it. Ready to camp and wash anything cleanable. [white]

I have looked into the FEMA stuff. There is a mountain of redtape to deal with to work for them.DUN #,SIC#,insurance etc, etc.
I have heard of people contacting individual cities and dealing with them directly.Less red tape by handling it that way.

washing to new orleans

I am from New Orleans and would like to work with someone who knows the business so I could learn maybe start up on my own. Been in the chemicials/janitorial business for 12yrs.Just returned from N.O. and everything needs cleaning.Would be great at securing work and able to be in the trenches. If serious call me on the cell 601-278-6245.I have re-located to Jackson,Miss. but will be in N.O. 10/1-10/3. I do have place to stay for small crew and safe place to park rig Joe Burke

Emmplyees Needed/Jobs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been listening to the hurricane coverage on NPR as I clean and restock vehicles. Sounds as if one of the long term problems may be the total destruction of the infrastructure, and of business. People are leaving the area because of the lack of services, jobs, business.

Many of us owning our businesses have had dificulty in finding qualified people to fill positions, allowing us to expand. This may be an opportunity to benefit some of the people leaving the New Orleans and ourselves. But I have no idea how to contact any of those who may be interested in looking elswhere for jobs. If there are those of us who are located in LA or ALA who could help in this endeavor, please post the information.

Joe Burke,

If your serious about getting into pressure washing you would need to go work for a week free to gain experience with one that is not in your area.

Reason being no one is going to teach a local competitor how to do the work and then chance that person taking his livelyhood.

There are guys and gals in the business willing to teach you for free but you have to pay your room and food and travel to them.
