I would recommend Quick Books Pro, usually around $179.99 - $199.99. During your setup you can customize it for your particular needs, also has great accounting features and payroll.

You can buy them online (Downloads) or you can purchase them at office Depot, CompUSA, BestBuy, heck probably even WalMart. I bought my quickbooks on ebay but be sure that the licesnce is unused so you can register it...hope this helps.

Maybe I have just ben in a pissy mood lately. Pike, please do not take this personally as I have absolutely nothing against having a budget nor a guy trying to get started.. BUT

If you cannot afford the proper software to run your business (under $200) how the hell are you going to pay for marketing your services and all of the other expenses that are non-stop when you own a business? Where is your capital reserve to kep your advertising in play when you haven't got a single job or when your rent/mortgage comes due?

There are guys that are on this site (a cross section of the real world?) that think you buy a machine and thats it you make $100 per hour and move to the Caribbean and retire after 5 years (no offense wholesale Jason, you already live there) One guy posts he doesn't have a driver's license so he can't do jobs while his business partner waits tables. Hello? There need to be some serious business '101' slaps

Again, Pike you may be the coolest guy with great intentions and this is not targeted at just you but damn.. what do guys think it takes to run a business. If it only took a couple grand and desire to work hard everyone with a credit card would own a business.

End of RANT.

Thanks for the advice. This is basicly one of the last things I wanted to purchase when I started gathering all my information and prices for marketing, and equipment needed to start. I wanted to make sure I purchased the must inportant things first,( what it takes to get the job done right). This software, I assume, will make my job easier at the office, keeping up with my records. So, when I started I set a curtain budget of money for equipment, and a budget for marketing. I don't have alot of money left over, but if I was able, I was considering purchasing the program now, but it looks like I need to wait.

Quick books pro is a great program but expensive u can download a free trial that will work while u get stated until u earn some $$. There are other accounting programs available at any office supply (or Wal Mart like h2ocean said) for around 20.00. I know starting out any biz is tough and funds need not bee misappropriated. I stated out with generic invoices from staples the pre-printed carbon copy ones they did the job and were only 6.00 for pad
Good luck!
