If you drop your prices you will never be able to raise them again. They would be more likely to accept a fuel price surcharge to account for the extra money you are paying for fuel. The trucking industry does this all of the time. If fuel prices get above a certain point they have a fuel surcharge to pay the additional. It always seems to be a little more than the fuel actually went up so they look for price increases. Welcome to the real world

Have you ever noticed that those driving slower than you are idiots, and those going faster are maniacs?

Just a guy driving around trying to make a living washing trucks, Wouldn't know a deck if it bit me in the hind quarters,

Dan,
Lots of different ideas on that subject. You & only you know how the customers will react to a price change.
Yes they are hurting, but if you don't set a guide to the lower $ you might not be able to raise it back again.
Things I have done in the past that worked were: giving a set discount for a defined period of time, giving a % discount based on type (commercial, chamber member, no. of units washed, etc) of customers you have.
Trucking industry has got to be the hardest type of customer you can have.
Definatekly if you give a discount send a letter explaining it as well as setting the terms for the discount!

I would wait until someone says anything at all. If they are concerned or worried, they probably will bring it to your attention.

If that is the case, you can work out an agreement at that time.

Just a thought

I would not offer any sort of discount due to their increased overhead. Almost all transportation companies get a discounted rate for bulk fuel usage and it's all a deduction to them. I know it seems like a "nice guy" thing to do but in the end if your costing them too much they are still gonna boot ya... there in business to make money just as you are.

Plus... if your running with a HW washer your fuel costs went up as well!

Before you drop prices quickly consider who needs the money more a company large enough to have a fleet of trucks or you. Also would the amount you dropped your prices be enough to really amount to much or would you be considered a nut by the customer.

THEREFORE ,i agree with all your replys.and thank you so much for the advice.so tell me am i the only one who thought of such a stupid thing? or am i the only one that put it out on the net for everyone to read?
