I just landed this 40 home complex roofs only job. Not looking to contract it out as i will be working the job as well. I wanted to bring along another company to help complete the job quicker. Any thought on how to go about paying them? What kind of %% should I throw there way? I've always done all my jobs solo as I'm the owner-operator. Any thoughts would be appreciated.....[help]

How soon do you need to do the job? I happen to know a guy that owns a Bandit and is in the middle of winter season. LOL :D

roof job

I'm not sure of your personal situation ,but I would just put on a couple of new guys ,even if it was temporary. I,d tell them that if they did good there might be more work down the line. then just pay them by the hour, or piece rate it to them. If you do'nt have the equipment for a couple of guys you could always rent the machines. but I like to have several machines anyway, so if you could swing it then buy a few more rigs. IT will pay off down the line.

Large jobs it's better to just bring in another company with knowledge & equipment IMO - alleviates a number of issues, ie, WC insurance, not to mention babysitting the temps. We get jobs done quicker and free up our schedule faster so by the time the job is done, you've still made the rate you need to make anyway.

yeah,
thats true ,its just around here ,theres not alot of friendly competitors.REALY
next thing you know there bidding on the job next year. I'm sure its not like that every where. but it is here. I'd rather train new guys my way, and control the connection to the work. then you have guys hoo know what you want and expect. and your company grows.
I have three guys like that now .And the jobs are mine.

I am currently running my business in Tampa but I am transferring my office to Ft. Myers. I am not sure where you are located or if you are still interested in some help, just let me know. I have been in the business for several years now and would look forward to speaking with you in this regard or just to talk business and bounce ideas of each other.
