Seems that on this forum the profiles aren't viewable but I've been asked to take the time to update mine. Since this is a community of professionals and we are expected to post and act accordingly, why wouldn't we have the liberty to write a profile and tell a little about ourselves so others could view it.

Since forums are a community and are supposed to support the communtiy in it's entirety, it will be interesting to see what the comments will be on this. I think it's only fair that we all have a profile and all of us can view each other's profile so we know who or what we are talking to. It also allows users to personalize and spend some time on their profile and that kind of describes personalities and a little about their business.

However, if profiles aren't shared, then this is just an anonymous sort of forum and anyone on here can call themselves whoever they want and can be from whatever city and state they choose. Profiles depict business and personal attributes and should be shared with the community, not just viewable by a select number of people or moderators and administrators.

The question is whether or not this is a communtity forum based on the interest and promotion of the community or a forum based on a few individual interests.

The poll is, who thinks profiles should be viewable by all. All in favor should vote. And if this is a community of professionals in pressure washing and this forum is in place for the betterment of the community, then we should take a democratic vote.

Should the majority vote yes that profiles should be viewable then for the sake of the community, maybe it would be something to look into.

Another thing I noticed is that if I want to private message Micheal T, it won't allow me to do so. What's that all about. If I want to email a question, it does not allow us to. Looking at the big picture, to me it looks like there are other interests here than for the good of a healthy community of pressure washers. This is just my opinion from what I see. With all that, then why should I spend time writing a profile? What difference does it make? You can't email me or PM me, right? You can't see my profile, right?

Please, I can't wait to hear the comments on this.

Oh, another thing I noticed is that the forum has a credit card donation thing on it. What are the donations for?

The View Profiles, and Private Message features were shut off by the owner of this BBS due to abuse by a few people.

If you were to update your profile specifically the location people could see where you are from, or where you want them to believe you are from.

Posting a picture of your wash rig would be fine too!

Many have learned to appreciate the benefits of this BBS, and the exchange of information, and ideas shared here by professionals.

Some have opted to just instigate, others have started their own BBS.

The choice is yours.

I'm glad the owner has a few things shut off,it sounds like your wanting to send spam.

If you want to send someone a message post your e-mail address and ask for a reply.

Not everybody agrees with the boss But it was his choice to close the profiles. I agree with what you have posted. But if that is how he wants to run his BB then We have to either accept it or move on. Mark said "many have learned to appreciate the benifits of this BB . I think it's more like we are immune to them.

This subject gets pushed under the rug alot and never gets resolved. One thing I have found out is to not speak your mind .......In other words "just go with the flow" you make the Boss's happier!!

How does not having viewable profiles make this any less a professional forum? There's nothing that says a person isn't going to lie on their profile...It isn't like this board (or any other) is a democracy...It is what the owner says it is. Like Dan says, don't question the leadership. From what I've seen, if you do, you're considered and instigator who is getting his/her panties in a wad. Just go with the flow. I don't often come here, and that's the primary reason...the way I've seen others treated. I've gotten some good help and information here, don't get me wrong. The problem is, many of the folks who posted here when I first found this board have since left, choosing not to put up with the dictatorial attitude of the "leadership" (and no, I'm not referring to every person who is in a position of leadership or authority on this board...some, like Mark, are great folks who will go way out of their way to help you out.)

Anyway, that's my $.02.

Sounds like a frustrated Marketer trying to SPAM everyone and doesn't have the talent or know how to work the system. Believe me, from the contents of your messages, I don't want you PMing me or e-mailing me, because I am 100% sure it will be useless information filled with either some get-rich scam or some special potion that only you sell.

I for one don't want to hear from you, and I am sure no one else here wants to here from you either.

You can't figure out the system, but send me an e-mail or let me get a hold of your I.P. address and let me show you my true talents...

By the way, the "donation thing" you refer to is for people who appreciate the hard work that went into creating this board, the camaraderie, and the information that has helped them grow as a professional.

Obviously you wouldn't know or understand such, so I think it would be better that you venture onto another board that welcomes boneheads such as yourself.

And the reason I voted No is b/c I also think the moderators should have limited viewing of the profiles.I think all moderators should have a training peroid before they are allowed full viewing of the profiles.

I think this fishing hole is full of catfish that thinks the bait would taste good until you try catching one ofem.I like fishing this hole,I can fish alday without getting a bite in a hole,even days.I know in time "if" I wanted to catch dat catfish and know where his lacation is all I got to do is throw out the right bait and say here catty catty.

Its funny, but up until last night when I read a post on the deck restoration estimate, I was all for not showing information.

But after reading that certain post by that certain someone, I would like to see it. I can only speculate that the person in question is a competitor of mine and lost the County Deck job and tried to make me look bad. Oh well.

I will just say this, Dil***s Powerwashing ? A knock off from Bry***s Powerwashing. Its also funny that Dil***s Trucks tell you to go to www.********.*** and it takes you to Bryants out of Virginia.

I guess what I am trying to say, those that hide and do not post honestly where they are from are trying to hide something for a reason. But what is that we are smarter than that.

If I was the owner of the board (Dan F) I would make everyone fill out all the information correctly. The system could be set up to not allow them to register until every block is completed.

Now will this stop people from putting anything they want. Sure it will but it would be a pain in the A**.

Also, I still would not let anyone view this info other than the moderators or owner of the board. Yes could the person moderating be your competitor (Yes) but at that point maybe that individual has given enough to the board that it would not matter and it would not bother me, I would just fire back and have Bush Almighty as my General In Charge and lead us into battle. Did I say Bush ? Havent had my coffee yet.
