Rod and I will be there. We went through the bootcamp for wood several years back. It was great. Why are you going if you are not going to the bootcamp(s)? I want to sit through the IRS seminar.

Beth:)

Beth,

I too am certified already through the PWNA , and I will be in Pittsburgh the weekend before for another show. I would like to take off the whole 10 days but it probably wouldn't be a good idea with business as busy as it is right now.

Hey, Dan S, how 'bout sending a bit of those $$$$$$ over here?

Well, I'm not holdin' my breath, I guess. I'll be going to Pittsburgh and stopping to visit with my youngest son while I'm there. See Y'all!

That's the other thing we are doing too. We're visiting my sister and my youngest niece while we're there in the evenings.

It'll be good to see some folks again and to meet new people as well.

Beth:cool:

I actually wont be able to make it. Been planning to go all year but the drought here in central NC kinda ruined those plans. Maybe next year.

You just couldnt resist that, could you? I am currently debating whether to fly or drive. If I drive, maybe I'll stop by your house and take care of that there. :)

Its 308 miles to drive to Pittsburgh, about five hours. The plane ticket is only $165 round trip, however, between the drive to the airport, security checks, and the flight itself, driving there will only take an hour and a half longer then flying...........I'm seriously considering driving. What would you do?

The only unknown is my car. My truck is out of the question......gets under 10 miles per gallon. My wife's car is brand new, but she needs it for the kid. My car is seven years old and the clutch is on its way out............so, I'm torn between risking a breakdown or not. Hmmmmm.

Mike,
Take the truck. Its pretty new and reliable. IF lets say you do around 700 miles total and your truck gets around 10mpg(Should do better on freeway driving) @aprox $1.50 per then you will spend aprox $105 in gas plus of course tolls. And then write it off.

Your car with the bad clutch if that goes without counting the headache this could cause why set off any flags with the IRS if you try to write off the expense to fix the car.

The only time(1997) that I ever got audited from the IRS it came down to my vehicle. A different story line here but they are sticklers when it comes to writing off vehicles. They look for small things to make Uncle Sam a couple of $$$.

I plan on attending. Should be there Friday morning. We're also going to tie in a visit to my wifes aunt who lives just a few miles away from the convention center. Can't miss out on her good old fashioned cooking!

Going to drive, it shows up as about 268 miles, from just south of Detroit.

Funny how some folks perceive things as a waste of time/money rather than just to have a good time and have fun!

And a tax write off at that!

I never maintain personal vehicles with the business' money. However, I do reimburse myself for the milage I put on my car (estimates mostly). In this case, it will be about $210 for this trip (roughly 34 cents a mile). I dont know if they raised the per mile amount for the 2002 tax year or not.

I will be there with my rig outside of the Westin Hotel. I'm going as a vendor with Largo and we are "showing off" the rig.
I wish I was not so stupid with computers or I would have posted a picture by now...Mike, take a picture while you are here...and please take that ugly car off of your posts!!!

Does anyone know when the wood bootcamp ends and what time the wood certification exam is? Hasn't rained much all summer, not all of a sudden if there is a 10% chance, we are getting rain. Might have seal some more decks and then come sit for the exam.

Beth

p.s. hope to see you all bright an early (8:30) on Friday!

Mike leave the truck for the wive and take her car since it is new.

Surely she can drive the pickup for a week!
