Good morning, I did a cutomers house yesterday and I was able to clean everything off of his driveway except for some "red clay" stains, and a few area's that I can only dexcribe as "rust" stains that built up on his slate finish area. I tried my normal clorox / detergent / high pressure / 200 deg. water and that didn't do anything. I even sampled WD-40 and scrubbed it down with a brush on the stain area .. that did nothing, and I even sampled Gas in a small area, that didn't do it either ... any chemicals you guys know of ?

itswillist,

Oxalic is pretty cheap if you buy it in 50lb bags without surfactants added.

I took a second peak at your website. You need to work on your technique when doing concrete. You have striping going fierce in those pics. Check into getting a small surface cleaner, maybe lowering your pressure or be sure to overlap your wand paths slowly.

ahh ..

I've been thinking about the surface cleaner idea, I bet that would make my jobs easier and better. I'll check at the auto store for some of the HF aluminum acid stuff. I assume you just scrub it on the areas you need it and let it dwell then rinse ? ...

I just ordered 40 lbs of the Oxalic Acid .. What's the best procedure to use ? proportion to water ? Dwelling Time ? etc etc ..

When using Oxalic etc. ,you will want to treat entire area. If you don't, you will end up with some very clean and etched areas. As for mix, go with the directions. Most use pump up sprayers or x-jets to apply.

Go 8 oz solid weight p/g of warm water. For bad rust or mineral deposits you may need a second application or brushing works well.

Stay away from HF acid. Nasty nasty stuff. Lethal in the wrong hands.

Thanks for all your help guys, and you constructive critics...

THAT is the most sound advise I have EVER read on any bbs :) It applies to users as well as others who may have accidental access. Too many stories recently about deaths of family members who have ingested chemicals because they were simply in improperly marked containers!
