repairing alkota heating coil

So I made the horrible mistake of letting my early 90's 1200psi Alkota PW freeze this winter and now the vertical heating coil has more then one leak.. Could I get some pointers for the pros on where to start this project? Where to seperate the coils (I assume hacksaw for cleanest cut)?.. I have a plain jane mig welder running gasless fluxcore, will this work for the sch.80 piping I presume I have? It seems that you guys test the welds with air and I know it doesnt take much psi to test, would holding 10 psi work? Thanks for any help.. Rich

You are probably better off replacing the heating coil,
unless you can easily access the bad spot and weld it closed.

I have attempted to repair old leaky coils before only
to have a new pinhole pop up after each repair.

If you are not sucessful call me Tuesday and I can look up
price for you when I am back in the office. [hello]

I pulled the same boat anchor move last winter. Took the coil to a radiator welder and it's worked all year so far. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Good call! Thanks. I will be calling around this week. No luck so far...besides my welder and coil staring at me.

Does your Alkota 3852 look similar
to this Alkota 122 Steam Cleaner with
14" diameter coil?

Is your coil an 18" or 14" diameter coil?
