resealing a redwood deck

First of all, Thanks for all the great info on this site from the pros. It has been very helpful for deciding what to use to seal my deck.
I have a rather large multi-level redwood deck that needs to be resealed. Finding contractors that restore decks in my area has been difficult. Mostly just painting companies. I consider myself handy but by no means do i have daily experience with decking. So Far i have just powerwashed the upper sections. The deck is 10 yrs old and it seems that sanding would be ideal. I started sanding a section with a belt sander @ 80grit. I know sanding is a big job, but want it done right. The wood is smooth and has a great grain look. The powerwashing does'nt seem to really get rid of everything, but is working well to get started. (2400 psi and i have gotten pretty good with it)
My questions are: Is sanding o.k for redwood? If so, is this the way to achieve the best results. Should a fine sandpaper be used before sealing?
I am planning on using readyseal for redwood. Also would using any chemical after sanding be advised?
This deck is in good shape but has not been sealed in years. I really want to do this right so that i can use readyseal every year or two.
Any expertise would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy spreading my knowledge in the trade that i work in, so hopefully someone here would'nt mind doing the same. Thanks, Scott

On a soft wood like redwood sanding is going to give you the best results. There is no need to go over 80 grit. In fact I prefer 60. Too fine and you will cause issues with the selaer penetraton.

For what its worth, 2400 psi is WAY too much to use on any wood, especially redwood. You need to use the right detergents, wash with maybe 500 psi (even after sanding), pH balance the deck and then seal.

I'd give you a link to a website that would explain everything in detail but they don't allow links here. You can email me at pressurepros@mail.com
