Roof Cleaning Question

Intown Paintr

New Member
Just wondering what people are using to clean off the black streaks on roofs? We are currently using a product called Roof Brite which seems to work pretty good but is quite costly and a pain to apply due to the mixing of downstream injector or x-jet being different from the ratio the product calls from. Any ideas? Does bleach and soap work just as well? Thanks

I just got a product called roofraider by A1, I will let you know how it turns out. I know sunbritesupply has a product called Super Roof Klean. I plan on trying that next, supposable you can use your xjet with the proportioners to spray on and then use the xjet to rinse off about 20 mins later. This roofraider I am going to try you dilute it one bag to 5 gl of water and use some time of chemical sprayer to spray on then rinse off with water, like and xjet with fresh water. I still plan on investing in a pitchwitch though, some roofs are just to steep to walk. I will let you know how it turns out.

Chlorine - enough said. I've never owned a pitch withch, but form what I've heard, it's not worth the money. Besides, the Pitch Witch requires pressure for rinsing which is not good, and completly unnessecary when using chlorine.

You need a good trailer mounted Shurflo set up with at least a 100g tank for diluting your roof mixture, about 200' of polybraid tubing, a pvc wand or a chlorine resistant gun with a pvc wand, a hose reel to roll up the polybraid (using a pig tail for this would be better than trying to run it through the swivel), and a deep cycle marine battery.

Oh, and varies fittings and couplings for rigging it up and having the capability to connect and dissconect the different components.

Enough said? okay. As for the pitchwitch I do not have one but from what I have read it takes the pressure down to 200 or 300 psi to clean with so you do not damage any shingles but like I said I do not own one but that is just from reading at there website.

Roof Cleaning Chems

THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT PERCENTAGES TO CONSIDER. EACH ROOF IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THE LAST. I ALWAYS START WITH THE MINIMUM AND TIGHTEN IT UP IF NEEDED. YOU DON'T NEED AS MUCH BLEACH AS YOU THINK, 20 TO 40% AT THE MOST.
