If the place that wants me to wash there trucks and trailers has an outside sanitary sewer[its a meat packing plant] can i just dam up the storm drain and pump the water to the sanitary sewer and be OK with the EPA? Im in NJ. no degreasing but need to clean the insides of the trailers i use biodegradable soaps

I would think you need to talk to the city waste water treatment plant about what you plan on dumping into the sanitary line. My understanding is, as long as you keep the water out of the storm sewer or drainage ditch the EPA not a problem.

Here in VA any water that comes out of a Pressure washer is considered processed water therefore it has to be sampled and sent to a lab to be analyzed before issuing a permit to dispose of your waste water in the sanitary sewer. My understanding is that this process has to be followed at each site. The treatment plants have certain levels of lead, zinc and many other contaminates that they will accept at there plant and each plant is different because of the different industries each may receive waste from. Most wastewater will have to be treated with some sort of filtering system before disposal to reduce the levels of contaminates.

Just pick the water up and into the sanitary sewer, these places have in many cases a sanitary sewer permit. Your biggest concern is keep it out of the storm drain.

I clean Kitchen Exhaust and I made a ton of phone calls, concerning dumping the greasy water with chemicals/sodium hydroxide in it. Granted we are not talking about a ton of water, 50 gallons would be considered a lot, and was told basically the same thing from everybody.

That is just a drop in the bucket and won't even be noticed!

I got this reaction from many different municipalities, and now unless I have something out of the ordinary going on I don't bother making the call.

This was in the Washington DC area.

My 2 cents

Clarification

In the last post I meant to say that If it was collected and put down a sanitary sewer it would not be noticed.
I read that and realized I had left an important detail out.

what are the legal problems with dropping your recover tank at the nearest do it yourself car wash.

You would need to talk to the car wash owner about that, he has is own environmental problems to deal with, he may not want to deal with your also.
It can't hurt to ask I guess, maybe for a small fee he will allow you to do so. I think doing so with out consent could open you up to possible legal problems
