Self Contained Water Supply

A question about self-contained water. I have a trailer with a 275 gl. water tank. The water is gravity fed into the washer. I am wondering if I need a water pump to supply the PW because when I let off the trigger there is a great deal of vibration (which doesnt happen when hooked to city water) and when the wather in the tank starts running low the pressure drops measurably. Do I need a feeder pump for this setup or is something else wrong? Also the unit is a Anno Reverberi 4.0 GPM. Would I need a 4.0 GPM pump or just something to "boost" the PSI to the machine.

Thanks for any help.

If your pump is a belt drive it should be able to draw from the tank. If your pump is a direct drive then you will need a pump to supply the pressure pump.

OK it is a direct drive unit so I need a pump. DO I need to match the GPM of the unit? I know that seems like a simple question but I am having a hard time finding a 4.0 GPM pump that I can afford.

Thanks

I would get something that is rated @ 20% higher gpm than your pressure pump. Better to have a little more than not enough.

Sonlight,

I have used a direct drive pump for years with a 100 gal tank gravity fed with no problem.
Things I would check:
leaks in feed line, pump above water outlet of tank,
feed hose too long or to small around.
You should not need a pump tp get water to to your power washer. My thinking would be that your pump is above water outlet being you loose pressure as water level goes down.

Ah, interesting. Yes the pump is above the water outlet but I can't remedy that because the water outlet on the tank is at the very bottom. I would have to mount the pump below the trailer to get it below the water outlet.

If I move the outlet higher, I lose water capacity.

I think you better check for an air leak somewhere between the pump and the tank.
I have ran many with a water tank and usually there should be a filter in line. If that filter is plugged then there will be a suction problem.
New packings and valves would help also.
I have actually pulled water thru a 50 foot hose with a direct drive pump with no problem.
