Shock! Home Depot Bere Stain in CA.

Yesterday I was in home Depot and took a browse down the Stain asile. All the Bere Stains were Oil Based Water cleanup! No true oil stain at all except petocrap.

I lost the Olympic New Look Redwood all ready at the end of last year becuase of the VOC's. That was a nightmare enough. But the mere thought that weekend deck refinishers are going to be using synthetic oil on redwood decks is enough to make me want to try another trade.

Anyone with 2 cents for a brain knows you don't put this stuff on redwood. Even the CA Redwood Association recommends only true oil for redwood sealing.

"Quality oil-based finishes,
including those based upon linseed oil,
contain mildewcides, and are appropriate
for use on exterior redwood."

For those that mite not know synthetic Oil is waxed based, and is a nigtmare to remove from soft wood. ( Redwood ) Compare it to CWF!!! those in the know don't even want to touch a deck with that crap onit. And decks out here can be the size of a large yard.

To top it off the sample sheets show decks treated with glossy surfaces. I see the regular Joe putting on 4 to 5 coats of this stuff.

Just try and put SuperDeck or any other quality oil over wax without sanding the snot out of a deck and get pro results. So far Super Deck is still available due in part that it is made in CA. and TWP from Kelly Moore. If those lines go quite a few deck owners are going to be ticked off when the deck refinishing goes to 200 bucks and hour to fix. Ever try and sand hot wax on a 90 degree day out of soft redwood. Mite as well try and sand wet clay even after PW as much as you can off the wood! The wax gets into the wood.......

ARRRGGGGG!!!!!!
