Shop-Vac's

First off, Matt, a box of cigars will be coming your way shortly - and they are the one's Pat smokes on a daily basis. We have gone thru numerous vac's and have yet to find one that has real staying power. We have spent as little as $90.00 and as much as $700.00. They all work but as a result of the chem's that we are forced to use, they just don't seem to hold up! Any ideas what we can do short of selling our first child to generate enuf cash to buy one that might hold up? WE're staying busy but do have some time to do a little shopping. We'd like to get that piece of the puzzle in place prior to the push that comes with every spring!! Thanks for the help.

The best solution the I have come up with is good old Sears and the guarantee program. One of my units is on the job after 6 months and I plan to replace my other units when needed.

I am on my 3rd PW, but the original vacuum cleaner. I bought a better vaccum than needed. My vacuum is s/s, has large wheels, tips back and cost $700.00 15 years ago. My cost per year has been less than $50.00 per year, plus repairs. the large wheels and S/S tank are one reason mine has lasted so long. I have thoughts of a plastic vacuum breaking and dumping several gallons of greasy water, most likly when the owner stops by to see how we are doing.

washman, if it will help i currently use a defloding vacuum with two suction motors and one sump pump, i think that is the correct way to list. while i pick up at close to 210 cfm when water reaches a certain level it starts to pump out the water. I upgraded from a shop vacuum since it could only do about 5-10 gals per minute while this one can pick up about 85 gals per minute. I can put the pick up hose inside a pool and it will empty the pool without stopping like the shop vac. hope that helps. but it cost close to 1200.00

More info please. My vacuum started making a rattling noise yesterday. May be time to replace it. What brand, where did you purchase it, how big is it?

Doug, we recently purchased a Sears heavy duty commercial grade, 18 gal. Modified it a little by placing a sump pump in it. Works great, but we are curious about the vac described in the post above your most recent one.

dimesions are about 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 2 1/2. model # N-850Z by TMI. Go to any janitorial supply warehouse and ask for a deflodding vacuum and give them this info. Vacuum needs second vacuum motor to raise cfm to 210 it comes standard with 120 cfm. I use for every type of pick up. Including oil, solvents, gas.... of course mixed with the water, and it comes with 100 ft of pick up hose and 100 ft of dumping hose.

Best wet vac I ever found is a Craftsman sold at sears, And even after 10 yrs, I see it still only cost $99.00. I have spent $400.00 on wet vacs that didn't have the durability as this one.

Craftsman 16 gal. Wet-Dry Vac, 6 hp with Blowing Port

The perfect size for your big jobs and the power to tackle almost any chore. Insert hose into rear blowing port and vac doubles as a blower, perfect for quick cleanups. Pos-I-Lockâ„¢ keeps hose secure.

You can use the blower port to dry electric connectors before turning a piece of equipment on.
