SOCIAL SECURITY:
(This is worth reading. It is short and to the point.)

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.
Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.
You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan .
In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.
For all practical purposes their plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die.
Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments..
This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries. For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275,000.00 during the last years of their lives.
Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives.
Their cost for this excellent plan is $0.00. NADA....ZILCH....
This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds;
"OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK"!
From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into,-every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer)-we can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month</SPADHUN> after retirement.
Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator! Bill Bradley's benefits!
Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made

That change would be to:
Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us ..
then sit back.....
and watch how fast they would fix it.
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.
How many people can YOU send this to? Better yet....
How many people WILL you send this to??

Exactly

Our Government......Not yours, not mine. THEIRS. This is how it is but we have become too complacent to just sit back and do nothing. This country needs a revolution. When will it come ? Who knows....probably never. You stand up and you get cut down. I have said it time and time again that our government is the most corrupt in the world. What do we do.....NOTHING.

Do as you are asked and send this to as many people as possible. It probably wont do much without a petition but it is a start.

I have been saying for years ALL people should be by in the SS program.

No special teachers, rail road, politicians, fireman, policeman and all the other government agencies seperate plans.

One plan for all workers regardless of who you work for, everyone pays into the SS retirement program.

If they choose to not take out fine but they must pay in.

Now I have said this for years and perhaps a few here might not even be aware of this scam but all those politicians, fireman, policeman and others can and do collect MULTI pensions.

What that means is each level or job they held they get a pension for it, city council to county to state and upwards. Each of those positions gives a pension and they are allowed to collect each and every one of them.

Just in case you don't follow what I mean here's how it works:

Say you put in 4 years in the service, you did nothing special yet get a good conduct discharge, then you work as a city worker for say 10 years, then you run for city council and win, 8 years and you cannot run again so you run for a county commissioners job, 8 or is it 10 years and your out, now you run for state senator and do the max before jumping over to the House.

Every one of those jobs pensions are yours, not one of them but ALL OF THEM. You could and most likely would pull in thousands a month.

Get the point yet?

I say pick one and one only and the others you give up.

Is it any wonder why cities and states are broke?

Also if Social Security were taken private as it was years ago the government could not borrow from it. If all those IOUs were paid back it would have billions of surplus dollars too.

I think I will run for city council now that I have the time.

Go ahead and tell me I don't know what I am saying and I am all wrong but first check it out.

It depends on your location. Az. has a government plan. You need to roll it over.
Now the gig. We have a guy in Maricopa County that had been chief deputy at $175k a year. One fine day he decided to retire. For his retirement he got, because of length of service, $175k a year for his retirement pay. Pretty good deal, and he had put in the time etc to make it fair. The day after he retired, he started a new job. Doing the exact same thing that he was doing before he retired in the same office, for the same pay. Net effect, he gets $350,000 a year in retirement and pay.
More than a few people got upset over this fit of stupidity.
Right now I figure that with my contributions and employer contributions, I have an account that currently stands a $90,000 in contributions in current dollars. I figure that I will do nothing but add money as required by law. So figure that I average about 5% interest, and that money should easily total about $400,000 and probably closer to $500k at retirement. For some reason, I do not think that I am going to get the equivalent of $50K a year when I retire.

Excuse me Cody, are you feeling well, I mean that has got to be the shortest post you've ever done.

Did those strong winds knock all the air out of you or is "old" age creeping up on you buddy?

As Scott said it all depends, here in CA they do that all the time, climb the ladder of retirement benefits and us hard working citizens end up support the do nothing politicians, well some do a little bit, some a lot and some are so full of hot air they float the ballons here.

So do tell us how things are down in your corner of the world?

I agree with some of this, but resent the implication of being classified as a "like kind" politician. I am a full time firefighter in a large city. Yes, I will get a very good pension, BUT....I will have earned it and PAID for it.....

Social security is taxed at 12.6% My employer pays 24% and I pay 10% of my salary into my pension. If my employer did not have to pay so much into it I could see additional compensation in higher wages, but as it is...by me being employed 34%...yes that's right 34% of my salary goes into the pension EVERY time I get paid. Now...let's see 12.6% or 34%?????

You tell me I don't deserve my pension!

Mark not sure how deep you want to go into this but first let me make myself clear, fireman and law enforcement deserve and most times earn their pay.

I have two brothers in laws that are police and we have talked about things like this where they live and beleive me not all police departments are equal.

THey have to buy their own police cars for starters.

My point on SS here was not was not if you earn it or not but how to make Social Security fair and equal and solvent.

Here is another major problem with law enforcement and fire personal in California and I cannot say this is true anyplace else but they rip off Workers Comp. just before they retire. STRESS always is the only reason and this even happens with top officals.

My personal opinion would be that those entering into that line of work sign and agree that they knowingly are entering into a job with stress and can never sue for stress since they know the jobs are stressfull.

Don't get me wrong here ok, I am not saying you would do it or are that kind of person.

Again if everyone had to pay into SS it would take care of itself and I do believe I said you could keep your employers pension and not even draw SS, just pay into it as everyone else does or should.

I never knew fireman were considered politicians either.

I agree about the stress claims by firefighters. The job does have stress, but not the amount many claim.

Kuzinbo I'm glad that your not ever coming back to this site b/c your not Cody's type of powerwasher. The people that want to be contacted my e-mail has their e-mail address in their post and the people who not not want to be contacted though e-mail does not.
Why,because some of us have better things to do as to talk to unprofessionals like yourself.I have Cody's e-mail address as do others on the board BUT he ask us not to pass it on to others like yourself.
Like most people tho you want it right now and stomp off mad if you don't get your way,its the American way huh.

Oh, and if I work enough jobs at enough places to collect multiple pensions, then I'm damned well going to TAKE them...they're part of the job...They're not me stealing from the government, they're part of the employment package offered for that position, whether it is an elected position or a position with a private company.

To say that everyone should be only on SS is just plain nuts.
