Spliting 8gpm into two 4gpm

I want to modify an 8 gpm machine 3000psi into a two man machine.

How do I plumb the unloading system? I know I will need two unloaders. Do I just tee the outlet of the pump amd hose into two unloder blocks, and tee into bypass?

How do the the two gun machines come set up from factory?

Thanks for any help?

Hello Kevin,

We put three hose reels on our 8 gpm Hotsy. Only one unloader!
Works fine. One line from the pump and then we just plumbed it to each reel. Put ballvalves on each reel so we can localize them.

Kevin,

I moved your post to this section.
You can run one unloader Lock Up Type Only and two guns with 15045
nozzles that will give you @ 4 GPM at 3000 PSI from each gun.

The Giant 22913A has been used for multi gun systems for years, its a little pricey but a good unloader for higher volumes up to 13 GPM @ 3000 PSI.

FEATURES: * Pressure actuated unloader * Ideal for multiple gun situation * Side port connections ideal for pressure switch, gauge or pop-off installation * Corrosion and erosion resistant design
Technical Notes SPECIFICATIONS:
* Orange spring * Maximum Pressure: 3000 PSI * Maximum Flow: 13 GPM * Maximum Temperature: 160 F * Inlet: 1/2" FPT * Outlet: 1/2" FPT * Bypass: 1/2" FPT * Repair Kits: Available * Weight: 2.75 lbs

The AL 606 is rated 8 GPM @ 3600 PSI it would probably work for you. But I think I would go for the 22913a Giant.

AL 606 Unloader : * Pressure Trapped Unloader * The Arrowline AL606 unloader is a great inexpensive unloader for most pressure washers 1500 to 3650 PSI.
* Our most popular unloader
* Maximum Pressure: 3650 PSI
* Maximum Flow: 7.8 GPM
* Maximum Temperature: 194 F
* Inlet: Dual 3/8" FPT

I am interested in the opposite approach - running two machines to one gun. OK to run from pumps to separate inlet connections on one unloader and bypass back to a feed tank? I normally use a 4000 psi/5 gpm machine or a 3500 psi/4 gpm machine. Would I need to run the higher pressure at reduced pressure by lowering throttle setting? My ultimate goal here is to perform house cleaning at 7-9 gpm and 1200 - 2500 psi.

Running Two Machines In To One Unloader / Gun

Bill,

I have never done this before.
(running 2 machines in to 1 unloader / gun)

But this is the way I would approach it:

Keep existing unloaders on your machines,
and run hose from units to a 1/2" tee fitting then
from the tee to a lock up unloader with at least a
9 gpm rating at 3000 PSI, see Giant 22913A above.

You can set the unloader to unload at 2500 PSI, as
far as regulating pressure use a variable pressure
wand / dual lance or change nozzles.

I do not recomend you slow the engine down to reduce
PSI. (There has been some discussion on slowing engine
rpm down and some believe it could damage engine, due
to lack of cooling when engine is run at slower rpm's, others
say it is not a problem?
I just discussed the issue with our engineer at the factory and
he says do not run air cooled engine lower than 2800 RPM for
extended periods they will not get proper cooling!

Hope this helps!

HAVE A GREAT DAY! :)

Thanks Mark, I will try when I get a chance - running without a tank, but sometimes tap into a water meter or fire hydrant. Will use an extra 2124 (21 gpm, 4000 psi) unloader I have.
