Spraying chemicals

Hi. I have a few questions:
1. Flow jet vs. shurflo. What is the difference?
2. I am interested in the shur flo pump. I need a more efficient manner to spray chemicals over large areas such as driveways, etc. I am not sure of the specs. to look for and what type of set-up I need. can anyone help?
Also, do any of you use this pump for applying chems for house washing, etc.?
Thanks,
csoldier

Andy,
I'm not real sure this applicator will be beneficial for the car wash industry but I will try to send it to you anyway.
Not real sure the picture can be view in Hotmail unless it's set up in jpg image.

This applicator is designed for Houses and Buildings for applying chemicals to large areas.
There are many ideas you can use to enhance the spraying apparatus for larger areas. Larger pumps that can be added to make this rig a lot better, but it seems to work real good for me and is catching on in my area as people see this small rig.

If I knew how to apply this picture to this message I would, but I'm not that knowledgable with the PC yet.
I will send the picture to anyone who wants to check out this idea.

ParadiseProWash,

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, it is a Hotwater machine. Only one problem, it's low pressure machine. Something I bought before I knew anything about the business. It was a $2,500.00 mistake. I use it sometimes on houses when I'm doing a hot water wash. It seems to be easy on loose paint and gives me an edge on the tree sap and other hard to remove dirt.
On the opposite side of the machine, I have a 5000 watt Powerback generator and a 125lbs pressure air tank. The lock lid saddle bags hold my chemicals, rain gear, extra hoses, tools etc.......
The two machines in the back are 3500psi @ 4.2 gpm cold water machines also bought before I knew anything about the business. I just wish I would have known before hand. I would have had a great hotwater rig on the rear instead.
I'm still able to get the job done though, just not as fast as most of the guys do.

Thanks Again

You've got a nice lookin rig Richard! Take a look at one our old clunkers (old versa 4300). I tried to find a close-up but I guess I've been too embarressed to take one. However I DO know where most of the stuff is....on the OTHER trailer or....in the SERVICE TRUCK!

Monty,
I have to say, I think I'd rather be where you are.
At least your getting work. If you'll notice, minds sitting in my driveway where it's beginning to get very comfortable.
If you'll just move your jobs a little closer, I will help you.:)

I guess it doesn't matter how your rig looks are how old it is, if it works and you have the jobs, you da man!
By the way: Nice picture.
Don't dance around to much up there. It looks like a long fall.

Slow this might help[Richard]

Hey richard heres one for you. We have junk clean up days around here once a month
i went around picking up old lawn furniture[wood] people dont like the weathered look.
I used some cheep deck stripper and left over stains i had and the stuff came out better
then new. Then i had a garage sale and sold it all[tax free]. Desparte times call for desperate
acts. Where there's a will theres a way. Go to a construction site and give them a price on
some heavy equipment[some people just dont think about it untill you confront them.
make up a scrap book of before and after pics.
Also find out who are the heavy equip maint. [mech] are in your area. Clean machines out in the field are easyer and
faster to fix[you can see the problem] offer a ''ambasetor program'' to the owner or manager
That means you'll pay cash for every job they get for you[10%]
This also works for real estate sales people [but pay each salesperson]
kick back-grease-spread the wealth-under the table-TIPPING-
MY FAVORITE''COMMISION'' It's how this world works. Like it or not!
When things get to slow up the commision for that month.

ron,
You have a great idea. I've been wondering how to get to the real
estate groups interested in my service.
I have never seen such a more stubborn group of people in my life.
I'm not even sure the word stubborn is the right word. I expected the real estate people in my area to be more competent than they are.
In some cases, the Power Wash Industry can save their clients more money than anyone one in the chain of buying and selling.
The other day, I washed a large house for a painter that he was painting on the behalf of a real estate broker. The house was so black with mold and mildew that it looked as if the house had been burned. My cost was a little over $300.00 for this 2800 sg ft home (living space that is). The painter charged about $2600.00. After I finished the home, it looked as if the house had just been freshly painted. The painter came by and said, "I need to hurry and paint this house before the real estate broker comes by to see it." "They will not want me to paint it now" It was clear that in the most part, the paint was in tip top shape and didn't need painting, with the exception of the facial boards on south end of the house.
This home owner was going to pay about $1800.00 more than what this job was worth. Since I didn't initiate this deal, I couldn't tell the broker or the client without causing an enormous amount of problem and shooting myself in the foot.
I have tryed several times to get the many Real Estate Company's attention, but none of them will hear me out.
They act as if the don't even exist. I think it would take an act of Congress for these folks to open their eyes.
Maybe your idea will work. I will start a new thread to see if I can get some more kick back on this idea.

Thanks Ron,

Richard,

I have a feeling the reason why the real estate people are so stubborn at this time is because the real estate market is very hot at least in N.Y. it is.

As soon as someone puts up a house for sale here it is sold even if the house looks like a pile of mildew. In the past year the houses here have gone up 20% in value (Thats what my paper reported) which really is insane. Because of this the real estate people don't need anyone to clean these houses. Same holds true for the homeowner who sells the house on his own becauses he knows it will sell regardless. Thats a mistake in my mind because if the house was cleaned he could get even more money most likely.

Either way when the real estate market cools down a little the real estate agents will probably get off there high horses and be more open minded when it comes to cleaning.

I agree with that notion. So, maybe you have to target the new homeowners. I know they sell new homeowner lists.........but, in my opinion, they are not all that great, because by the time they get listed........the people have been in the house at least a month or two. I was getting "welcome to the neighborhood" crap in the mail three months after I moved in last year. Got coupons for discounts on window treatments..........when we had that stuff taken care of two months prior.........

Mike,
New homeowners is always a great place to start especially if is a whole new neighborhood that was just built. Alot of times if you get one house in a new neighborhood you will get 3+ more when you finish that first house.

When new houses are built they cause alot of dirt build up on that house and surrounding houses which means potential work for the pw's. When people first buy there new house they will usually spend money on keeping that house looking clean because they are so excited about owning a new house. These are usually vinyl sided houses that I'm talking about but Ive done new neighborhoods where stucco siding was the choice of the builders and the same thing holds true for that type of siding.

So if there is new neighborhoods going up in your area leaving a flyer in these peoples mailboxes might generate some more business in the future. This is just food for thought.[dog]
