squirrels eating log home

This is a real funny thread. Last year I went to my parents log home. Once I arrived, my mother explained a simular story to me and handed me a 20 gauge to solve the problem.
Although I found it to be an effective solution and an excellent chance to train my lab pup to retrieve, I don't think that your customers would feel to confortable with you pulling a shotgun out of your rig.
Other then my solution I dunno what to tell ya, maybe try using a plastic Owl.

Do squirrels eat bugs?? I thought they only ate nuts, etc. If they do eat bugs (which would make sense) then that is the problem that needs solved, and then the squirrels will leave.
what kind of prices are you getting on your log homes?? Are people paying anything down there?? I've been bidding low and still not getting many jobs, starting to piss me off. The only ones i've been getting are log replacements and that is only because nobody else can do it around here.

I would have to say the logs are probably cedar.. squirrels love to chew on cedar. Setup feeders away from the house with animal corn on it and they'll probably leave the home alone.
Borates will have no effect on squirrels.... it's an insecticide and not in a strong enough solution to have any effect.

I bid what its worth to me and just like you i dont get many,pisses me off too.Dumb painters get the job.I always try sell the knowledge ,them if i still dont get the job,i dont worry about it.People her here prep a new house as follows,pump up,bleach,water house .all from the ground.Or nothing at all,just stain it.This guy applied sikkens ,didnt wash it,didnt care if it rains,didnt know any better.
