Starting A Business in California

Hello, This is my frst post in this forum, love the place! I am trying to start a window cleaning/pressure washing and building maintainace business in Southern California. I am having difficulty locating help regarding proper legal permits, licenses, and tax forms to start my business and where I can obtain them. I am going to be hiring a few guys to help, but not for a while. Also, if anyone has information on insurance and bonds, it would be greatly appreciated. Refrences for carriers would also be nice. I would also appreciate any other advice, tips, equipment suggestions, and other help that you may be able to provide. I appreciate it!

Tough asking competitors to help you start a business against them.

I would suggest first making a business plan.

Second check with your city about business licenses.

Third learn about the CWA and what laws you have to follow to be legal in So. CA.

Forth, work for someone free for a week and learn a bit about pressure washing and window cleaning.

Fifth and this is not easy, keep your prices in line with competition, do not cut prices as you are not only hurt yourself but the whole industry.

I could offer tons of advice but I am no longer in the pressure washing business but in another type of business.
