Steaming snow and ice for traction

I got booted off a log home job with my crane because I didn't want to risk my crane on a slippery, narrow, dirt goat path to unload his sticks so they canned me. Shows how much respect there is? Guy's got enough money to build a what? $6 - 900,000? home, and won't build a decent road and gravel it for access during construction? Shouldn't surprise me.

Until the bridge is finally broken.......

What is need is traction. Just a skiff of snow makes an 84,000 lb machine useless.

Anybody have any experience steaming snow off a road to make it passible to heavy equipment??

Thanks Steve,
Oooops...I left out the part where it is very steep and a goof up means sliding about 50' or so down a 50º slope wrecking a home under construction and then down an 80' cliff into a cold river.

Not to mention killing people on the way down.

Now, don't suggest I should wear a life vest........

I think a steamer could melt and dry the road up enough to allow passage of rigs.

Wet gravel is ok, but steep and snow or ice no work.

Anybody ever tried using a steamer to melt a road?

I once steamed my driveway just melting ice and snow away goofing around. We had a snow storm that night that dropped about 5". In the morning my driveway was wet in places and dry in others and totally free of snow.
