Steel Eagle problem

I have a problem.....

Was doing sidewalks at an office park today and my surface cleaner (24" Steel Eagle) got hung up in a garden hose...stupid mistake, but two out of three of my spinner bars are bent. Tried straightening them, but can't get them straight enough to prevent some pretty severe vibration. I figured that's not real good on the swivel spinner, so I cleaned up and stopped. Came home to order some new bars, and three backups...until I saw the price. The cheapest I've been able to find is $43.95 EACH.

My first question is does anyone know where I can get these cheaper?

Second question is, what would prevent me from making my own? An 8" or so piece of stainless tubing, a 90 degree elbow, and a flare nut.....Any reason this wouldn't work? I can make something like that for a hell of a lot less than $46.00.

Mike,

Give me a call Monday I will sharpen the pencil and see what we can do on prices.

:)

P.S. It is best to replace all the spray bars at the same time.

Yes, I was going to replace all three. Two are bent rather badly, the third is only slightly bent. However, I realize only slightly bent will still cause vibration. I had no idea these things were so pricey...I was going to order 6 so if I ever wind up with a bent bar again I'm not having to reschedule the rest of a job.

My other alternative to extra bars is to buy a cheaper, smaller cleaner as a backup.

I'll give you a call Monday. However, unless you can do a whole lot better on the price I listed, I'm leaning towards trying to manufacture my own....the only problem I can see at this point is that the 90 degree elbow won't be welded on as it is on the bars it came with. Don't see this as a problem though.

Thanks!

I just wanted to say here that Mark surprised me with his price. Let's just say it was a hell of a lot cheaper than espec's price. A hell of a lot.

Thanks, Mark! You've saved me a lot of hassle.

You know, you just can't trust people to do what they say they'll do these days.

Mark, you know how I said I need those bars by Friday, and you told me that they would get here on Friday? Well they ain't coming Friday.

Know why? They came today. Damn, overnight delivery from SD, that's DAMN good service.

Thanks!!!

I've said it before.....price isn't always the most important thing, service is.

Mark has ALWAYS taken care of me throughout each and every sale, and I've bought alot of stuff from him. He understands the concept of providing good service

Any doubters?

Mark:

I'm assuming Steel Eagle makes a rebuild kit for the spinner...If so, I'm gonna need one...There's a lot of play in the shaft from the spinner to the manifold, and after putting the bars on, adjusting them, and firing it up I still have a good bit of vibration. I'm assuming that the few seconds it ran before I shut it down the other day damaged it.

If they do in fact have a rebuild kit, what comes with it? I'll be tearing it apart this weekend and should have a better idea of what's wrong (though I'm sure you and/or others here already know?).

I'm hoping this isn't a case of needing to replace the entire spinner?

Thanks!

Mike,

Yes I have several kits on the shelf, is yours the Deublin (Stainless Steel Swivel) or the Brass swivel?

I have kits for the Deublin on the shelf and complete brass swivels also.

How can I tell? I will look closer this afternoon, but all appears to be stainless. I can take some pics this afternoon also, and that might help you help me determine which type it is.

Thanks! Can you have the kit here today? Just kidding...Thanks, Mark, I'll get back with you on the type.

Mike,

The unit pictured largher in this brochure uses the stainless Deublin Swivel:

I do not have a picture of the unit with the brass swivel.

On the subject of rebuild kits...

Mark, do you sell rebuild kits for Cat pumps? I have 2 piston pump model either 333 or 430 (I'll have to measure the piston to make sure). I bought them used and although they work, I don't know what kind of shape they are in.

Thanks

Mark, it is the larger one, with the black housing and silver colored spinner. There's no brass evident on the machine at all.

What's your price on the rebuild kit, and what is included? Is it possible that the entire spinner needs to be replaced?

If you don't want to post the price here, would you email me? I'll be wanting two kits (so I don't wind up waiting next time). I'm learning that spare parts is a key ingredient to this business. I don't think I've had a week yet where something hasn't broken or had a problem!

thanks!
